This is fantastic! and thats all i have to say :D keep it up!
07 July 2006, 11:42 PM
Ok guys, i finished it ) Finally. Here is the story:
The city was not too deep, on the shelf actually. But it was in the closed cave, so nobody couldn`t even imagine there is something inside the rock. That`s why the city remain undiscovered. But there was some earthshake or somthing, i don`t actually know for sure, but a huge piece of rock just breached the cave`s wall and created a big hole in the ceiling. So here we go - City of Atlantis is now ready to be discovered =))
As it was very dark inside the cave, so many lifeforms just adopted to it and have a lot of "flares, lamps, lights" of any kind. You`ll see it on my image
Here is a simple blueprint =)))
07 July 2006, 11:43 PM
And this is actualy the scene i`ve just described =)) This is my FINAL image. Hope you`ll like it, dudes! And GOOD LUCK to all of ya!

Hey Pavel this is great! but I think with just a little more time it could be stunning, much of it still has a painterly feel. The lighting is just amazing in this. Just beautiful!
07 July 2006, 08:37 AM
yeah, i know i should spend some more time, but unforunatly i have to help my mam in Moscow ( She send me there for 5 day, so i go tomorrow and get back only by 4th, when the contest is over. So i had to push it to finish befor i go.
And if you think it has painterly feel, then i have a couple of suggestions on that. I saw a lot of underwater photos befor painting this one and i found out that the salt water has a strong blurring effect for the distant objects. The farther the object, the more it blurred. And the second thing that the "atmosphere" here so opaque so all things even if they are not so far from you become just a spots of solid colours and all details are fade away ( - painterly feel -)
I think this painterly feel arize when you create something unique, bazed apon a lot of totaly different photos. Coz you have to draw a lot of stuff that doesn`t exist at all. But the most "real looking" matte are those which bazed apon 1 photo. So you don`t have to paint all the stuff, you already have it in your photo ))) You just take some object (like castle) and insert it in the first main photo. Here we go - matte looks just like photo (cos it is photo).
Ann summing all i said - i`m not a professional painter so i can`t paint photoreal yet ) That`s why my image creates that painterly feel.
But anyway i`m satisfied with my result now! And if this image is need some lil work - i think it not so important, so i can call it FINAL image =)))
Thank`s guys! And GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YA!
Cheers from Russia

And after that huge speech i forgot to put a title to it )
Well, i thinks somethink like "The door the future" )) Coz city is so anciant, time stand still there. The city is embodiment of the past itself. And our world is far ahead - it is future. So this hole in the cave is like a way from the past to the future =)))
Ok, now it`s realy finished i guess =) See Ya!
