View Full Version : A really quick question [important for me]

I have a client right now that wants some compositing work done and I found, just in time, a very nice offer of shake 3.5 for 185 euros...

Are there any major improvements of shake 4.1 over 3.5? Since the client is basically a good friend and i want to charge him as low as possible, i want to cut the price of the software that i will use as low as i can...

So, should i go for the 185 euro shake 3.5 or the 450 euro shake 4.1?

Thanks in advance...

4.1 adds lots of stability and bug fixes over 3.5. Undo actually works 9 out of 10 times, smoothcam(camera stabilizer), autoalign(stitcher), lens warper, exr support. Multiplane(3d space) is useful and supposedly most of the bugs for it are fixed in 4.1.

Thanks a lot beaker... i'll go with 4.1...

Beaker, you say in 4.1 Undo works 9 out of 10 times? Is this an improvement of the 4.1 update, because i'm using 4 and always have issues with undo. I avoid it like the plague and break out in a nervous sweat if, god forbid, I have to actually use it.

I'm talking about 4.0 over 3.5. Previously you couldn't undo anything. Now most stuff will undo properly, except Quickpaint(just use the last stroke arrows with quickpaint).

I was feeling really reckless the other day and actually used multiple undos. It took like 35 minutes but it actually worked.......... i'm still smiling !

35min? weird. I've mainly been using linux on the job for the last 8 months. I'm sure the osx version of the undo is a lot slower.

When I would use another compositor and then come back to shake I would accidentally hit that undo button and it would take 35 minutes and then crash :) (pre v.4.0).
