View Full Version : Walk Cycle(for my demo reel)

This is my first time doing walk cycle by using trax editor on Maya, I'm very excited to learn this new tool. Here I have put clips together in 3 different views, perspective, side and frontal. Please give me any suggestion that you may have.:) size 7mb

Animation is funny, dont (Im working on a walk cycle too). Try put some weight feeling on it, rotating the torso in all 3 axis on every step, moving the hip forward and back, left and right. Gues this things will improve the walk a bit. Keep going!

Actually this is great, but as yamyam has already said you need make it not as linear as it is.

thank you for your suggestion, I really do appreciate it :)
I'm still having hard time grasping the natural hip movement:sad:
originally I had greater hip rotation in all 3 axis, but then it started to look almost too much,
so I tune it down a bit but still retain the rotation(as you can see from the side&frontal view), but I guess I tuned it down too much.
I'm not trying to go with the exaggerated style but rather more of a realistic one. If you have more comments on how I can make it look 'more' realistic, that'd be great.
(I didn't animate the head by the way since i just want to concentrate on the body movement..)

I think it looks good beside the critiques you got, but also the left hand seems to be moving too fast when it reaches the frontal part. And, what bothers me in the hip is that it moves to the opposite directions of the torso. I'm not sure it should be like that.
