Paralumino announces the release of its first shader product for the Electric Image Animation System called Multicaustics.

This simple, but powerful shader is designed to introduce EIAS users to the world of chromatic aberration. Although this particular effect can be manually generated through a clever use of lights and Photoshop tools, Multicaustics relies on real world physics to replicate the prism effect within Camera.

Through the use of Multicaustic’s Caustic Cannon, EIAS users can define up to 10 different caustic lights each reacting with the shader with their own refraction index settings. Prismatic effects can also be seen on transparent objects through the use of the “Show Self” option.

With a low price of $25, this particular shader can provide new levels of realism to a scene that uses caustics, but lacks that last 10% needed for complete realism.
