*** no just kidding :D its awsome to see you here Rawwad (Im the same Dile as on hope to see some badass matte by you, I saw your "first" on
ca, and now im even more frightened to join up :P

07 July 2006, 11:57 PM
Thanks a lot guys! :)

Dile: Hehe, Thanks a lot man. Yeah, this matte will be my second, that first one I donīt like :D

first sketch

Here is my first sketch. I have in mind something more traditional, like old ruins in acient greece like style. With many pillars, destroyed temples, lot of staues and main temple (with Poseidon staue on top). But not death ruins, ruins with dynamic enviroment aspects around, like lava, coral reefs, fishes, ... Also coloring could be in contrast as in this sketch, green-blue and red. But itīs still only first idea :D Will see, what next

07 July 2006, 01:00 AM
very nice lighting and idea, I love old ruined cities, this is going to be huge , good job so far !

07 July 2006, 01:08 AM
still only the first idea, but what an idea !! love your sketch.
Good luck for this challenge dude !

07 July 2006, 06:51 AM

Awsome idea, I can totally seen where this is going, I love the whole idea of mixing those warms from the lava for up-lighting, great concept man!:scream:

07 July 2006, 01:07 PM
hey rawwad! loving this sketch :D

Ocular Magic
07 July 2006, 03:03 PM
Hey Tibor, the way the columns and perspective lead the viewers eye to the main temple that houses Poseidons statue is very well done. It makes the whole piece seem massive and powerful. Very nice.

07 July 2006, 06:20 PM
thats a great perspective-sketch man! i like how you split the painting with the colors

07 July 2006, 06:43 PM
hi great work good luck

07 July 2006, 07:14 PM
wow great lighting there, excellent underwater mood:thumbsup: it will be hard to make underwater fire but I'm sure you'll make it :)

07 July 2006, 02:00 PM
Hi Tibor, show us the power of Atlantis!:scream: Good luck!

07 July 2006, 04:40 PM
wah... its very nice.... so far u r my favorite...
wakkakakaka... good luck!

07 July 2006, 07:38 PM
Thanks a lot friends, I glad you like it! :)
I think that itīs still small wiew on Atlantis, I want make composition larger.

p.s.: sorry for no new update, because I am bad ill now, And I havenīt energy to working on that, damn :banghead:

07 July 2006, 08:05 PM
Wow, gorgeous concept ~ I'm sure this will be a great one!

Good luck rawwad! :)

07 July 2006, 04:49 PM
I'm liking this idea alot man. More more!

07 July 2006, 09:10 AM
nice! At least you have a lot of refs of ruined greece style buildings - if you were gonna do greek style stuff that are still intact, you'd have a lot harder time :D :D

Give more space to top, so that the poseidon statue gets more attention, I'd say, make the statue bigger, it could be the key here. Looks good so far

07 July 2006, 12:21 PM
Thanks Rebecca :D and Reikon.

Ranath - Thanks, I have new idea, not so greece, but bit still. :D

next update:

Here is new idea, huge underwater city with colossal monuments, I want make something more epic. And I hope this is it :) I made four variants of composition.

07 July 2006, 12:31 PM
thats cool dude, gives a powerful feeling with these monuments, would be cool if one of these hue speres were cracked and fallen down on the city , hehe keep it up

07 July 2006, 11:32 PM
Hi rawwad,
great new concept! I would prefer the second sketch. It shows a lot of atlantis and the viewer is not like "inside" atlantis. I think the viewer should not be next to some buildings like in your first sketch. Even if this is a great concept, I would say not such a great one for a matte painting ;)

Maybe it could be great to see the town from the opposite side? Don't know but I would like to see it ;) Maybe you like the idea... maybe not ^^

I am looking forward to your next step :D

07 July 2006, 12:18 AM
What if you make a mixture between the 2nd and 4th sketch? And, by the way, very interesting ones =). A question: what does the big spheres mean?are they sculptures?perhaps a way to show the old splendor of Atlantis?

Go for it!

07 July 2006, 01:29 AM
GO rawwad GO:buttrock:

wicked concept as aways.
Later Jay

07 July 2006, 03:47 PM
SamsonsReaper - thanks, and I thinking about cracked sphere, now itīs there :D
Trunks - Thanks, I made mix of all wiews, and hope this is best variant :)
GonzaloGolpe - Thanks, I think that I create that mix :D And What wean these spheres? I am not sure with it, but they are some kind of monuments, maybe it will be some function. Also I want clean design of these monuments, and no form is cleaner than sphere :D
no1gashuffer - Thanks man :)

final composition
I made last composition, it is something like line art. Some details are still not definitly. Now I must make it realistic, huh :argh:

07 July 2006, 05:42 PM
wow this concept is really working for me, I think composition, concept and technique is awesome , can 't wait to see more , keep it up !

07 July 2006, 04:01 AM
wow mate!i can feel how fantastic atlantis is here.the last piece is very nice ove it.keep rocking bro!:bounce:  :bounce:

07 July 2006, 06:29 AM
It is serious concept. I wish to see continuation.

07 July 2006, 08:40 PM
This concept looks very good to me! I am looking forward to your architecture design of the buildings on the right and left :)

07 July 2006, 11:22 PM
NICE! love the concept/composition! very powerfull! looking forward to it! :applause:

07 July 2006, 07:55 AM
great concept, can't wait to see a colored more underwater-feel-sketch of this.

07 July 2006, 08:02 AM

07 July 2006, 10:22 PM

Keep it up and Good Luck to you.

07 July 2006, 09:33 AM
defo best city design so far. Can't wait to see it sunk in deep blue water!

07 July 2006, 12:36 PM
Thanks a lot guys!
start texturing

07 July 2006, 01:46 PM
Come on Tibor, looks good!:thumbsup:Be careful with the light., hehe:)

07 July 2006, 06:54 PM
Tibor, its looking nicely, your sketch and nack for architecture is quite impressive.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your Color Wip's

Be creative with your lighting. remember, Atlantis was an underwater city but there was no telling how far underwater they were. Perhaps the lighting should come from the city itself and illuminate upwards instead of the light comming from above. Just a creative idea.

07 July 2006, 08:16 PM
nice idea, I like those statues carring the huge spheres, good luck

07 July 2006, 05:17 PM
Tibor, that is such a sick comp.. i'm looking forward to this one!

07 July 2006, 06:35 PM
Wow. Looking great.:)

07 July 2006, 06:36 PM
Wow Man! The "weight" that this piece conveys is awsome. Can't wait to see what you do with with the lighting and details! Truly inspiring!

My Atlantis submission (

07 July 2006, 04:17 PM
Thanks guys, and you have right with light, i must change it.

more textures - it is bit different, but deadline is close and i want fished it

07 July 2006, 04:19 PM
Hey Tibor , this is looking wonderful. Keep it up , we know you can finish on time :D

07 July 2006, 04:39 PM
Hey Tibor , this is looking wonderful. Keep it up , we know you can finish on time :D

07 July 2006, 06:23 PM
I think it looks great even now.I loved the architecture style of that large spheres. We must hurry only a couple of days to finish:bounce:

07 July 2006, 12:30 AM
Thanks Matt and Ismail :D

more details - add some new buildings and ruins, but I must change it more dramatic after I saw MPavel, Aksu and SamsonsReaperīs works :argh:

07 July 2006, 12:37 AM
rawwad looking good i liked your idea from the begining. once you get a more dramatic lighting in there it will be really sweet! can't wait for your finish.

07 July 2006, 09:48 PM
J.Mac - thanks, i working on it

more textures and changed angle

07 July 2006, 11:30 PM
totaly awesome :),, i love the image.. even at early stage,, ill be taking a look to this thread.. the volume light adds a lot!!

07 July 2006, 07:36 AM
Lovely work!

But I think you should go back a step with the city architecture , more towards the concept. It has way better perspective and as you said, it's "more dramatic" to place the camera in the middle of the city.

I really want to see where this is going, because I'm totally in love with your concept :D

07 July 2006, 08:33 AM
Wow, so interesting architecture! So mysterious like those pyramids in Egypt, but here we have spheres =) Gr8 stuff!

07 July 2006, 04:06 PM
Wow man, this is really cool. Those spheres are really haunting and mysterious :-)

- Dave.

07 July 2006, 05:44 PM
Love how this is coming along. I'm definitely keeping an eye one this one.

07 July 2006, 12:20 AM
Thanks a lot guys! :D

aksu - yeah, it seem taht one is more dramatic, but I want wider composition with angle showing also some corals and underwater flora. It help to make better underwater feeling, i hope :)

I made all spheres and put there more depth, aslo I dramatize lightning. It is a bit dark now, but it has right underwater atmosphere.

07 July 2006, 12:25 AM
I understand, this one also has it's charm , but careful, you are losing dept.

07 July 2006, 12:35 PM
great progress! ill say the same, i think you are loosing a little of depth, you should use some of that underwater light blue fog :) but the image is looking totaly awesome, have fuun bro, loving your work

08 August 2006, 08:42 PM
aksu and Genesisa - yeah , you have right with depth, I must still do something with it, maybe some light rays help.

now I experimenting with light and overall atmosphere and colors, I think that green is better for underwater scene now. Also I have some new ideas with monuments ....

08 August 2006, 09:03 PM
The mood is cool.
The volumetric light are maybe too shiny. Like a nuclear explosion over there.

But looks cool

08 August 2006, 09:26 PM
Agree with Kutkin. Go for it, Tibor!

08 August 2006, 10:51 PM
Hey Tibor, you have such a fantastic concept with those huge spheres. you need some more depth and color variation. The green in the foreground is too saturated and looks totally unnatural. good luck man.

08 August 2006, 03:47 PM
Sorry guys, but I couldnīt finish ít, because my father stole my PC where I had saved Atlantis data. My parents are divorced and our wealth must be dealed, laws are stupid in this thing, then father could take what he want. And he absolutly f*cking on me and my work, then he stole not only my pc, but also tablet, scanner, programms, ...
I hate him, he is the biggest f*cking idiot ever,
Itīs bad, very bad.

I must buy new pc and tablet, after it i can be back at CGtalk.
Also this reply is wrote from my mom work.
Neverimd, iīll do something with it.

Good luck with voting guys! Great Challenge!

08 August 2006, 03:52 PM
That's sad man, I totally loved your concept.

08 August 2006, 04:03 PM
yep, agree with aksu

08 August 2006, 04:29 PM
Iīm so sorry,Tibor. Well, I donīt wanna be an interfering person but I think when a person, your father, a friend, etc acts in such a bad way, itīs because of a suffering that he happened sometimes before and he didnīt overcome and this fact became in frustration. He suffered, he has to provoque suffering. But, in the bottom of his conscience, he loves you, Iīm sure.

Man, I wish you all the good luck. Youīre not alone and hope your friends, mom, family, etc are near to you and gives you a huge hug :)

And look, he threw away your stuff, but your mind, your soul and your good ideas belongs to yourself and these, man, canīt be stolen;)

Youīll do wonderful works.

Best regards!

08 August 2006, 04:50 PM
You had one of the strongest concepts and images in this contest and to find out you didn't complete it for your that reason must totally suck!!!

Keep your head high man and don't let this discourage you. I hope you get your brand new equipment back and start doing what you do again.

There will be many more challenges to come.

Good Luck and hope to see you here again!!!

08 August 2006, 07:42 PM

08 August 2006, 07:51 PM

08 August 2006, 12:10 AM

 :)

08 August 2006, 02:52 PM
Wow! Thanks a lot friends:love:

Now everything with my father will going with judgement. I donīt want back my pc, iīll buy new and better, but I want my last data, thatīs the most important.
Yeah, my relation with father is broken and will. This situation with my father is worse than you think, realy. But I start new life, which is not bad.
And if I will have back my atlantis files, then iīll post it finshed to 2D gallery, will see.

And jamesvfx, big thanks to you, that you give it to voting, but my final is much better, hehe:D

08 August 2006, 04:36 PM
