View Full Version : Ei Users Meeting in Spain
07-04-2006, 03:28 PM
as some of you maybe know, Alberto Areta and me (Cristóbal) we are organizing a Ei Users Meeting the last weekend on September 2006 here in Spain.
The plan is to meet us in a nice hotel (a big old stone house called “Palacio de Samaniego”) in a beautiful village called Samaniego in the center of the spanish region called “Rioja Alavesa”.
You can visit this link (http://www.etereaestudios.com/fotos/palaciosamaniego_tmp/index.htm) to watch the pictures that Alberto and me taken some days ago there.
WHAT TO DO: well, here is located the center of some of the better wines in Spain with beautiful wine cellars to visit ;-) Apart from this, we can taste good dinning and make some small trips to know part of the beautiful atractions in this area: monasteries, archaeological ruins, villages, castles, crafts…
And, of course, we can talk from time to time about some 3D application that maybe you know ;-)
WHEN EXACTLY: Friday 29, Saturday 30 (September) Sunday 1 (October)
HOW: well, if you are interested in coming you must make a reservation in the hotel by your own (there are a limited number of rooms). The nearest international airport is located in Bilbao. There is another airport in Vitoria.
Some info about the accomodation:
— 6 “extra” rooms.
Big bed (1,50 m)
Room cost: 88 euros if two persons sleep here / 52 euros if only one person
— 6 “standard” rooms
3 of them with medium size bed (1,35 m) and 3 of them with 2 individual beds, each.
Room cost: 64 euros if two persons / 52 euros if only one person
The breakfast IS NOT included (you must add 7 euros for each)
You must add too the 7% VAT
There is a very nice restaurant where we can taste different kinds of menus. There is too a big special room where we can meet together, play with our laptops and talk around Electric issues in an absolutely informal way (forget about “serious” meetings and presentations, no need of this). This room is included in the price, no extra charge.
The hotel staff is kindness and they have locked all the reservations only for us. If you want to come and meet us you must to make the accomodation reservation by your own before July 31.
You can call to the hotel staff (34) 945 60 91 51 (more info about international country codes here (http://www.countrycallingcodes.com))
Anyway we think the best way could be use the email (firstname.lastname@example.org) because I am sure the staff can communicate with you using wrote english, better than talking ;-)
You must to inform them about the person who locked that dates: ALBERTO ARETA. Say them that you are friend of Alberto ;-)
When you make your reservation you must give them this information:
— Personal data (name, real address, passport or identity card number…)
— Email and telephone contact
— Give them a Valid Credit Card Number (don't worry, they don't charge until you are here: this is just in case that you don't come here, only in that case the hotel could charge the first night). If you prefer not to give them your CreditCardNumber you can make a bank transfer for the first night. In case you are confused about this you can contact with the hotel staff directly using the email address.
— Check in and check out date.
We hope to see you in September :-)

Now if I could only find time to get to Spain. :) I'd love to go. Here's an idea.. you should definitely set up a couple of Macs with iSight capabilities and allow a couple of folks to chime in. It would be great.
It could also be rather fun to set up a remote desktop scenario and give users a demo of Trestle and Scrim.. and by then, we should have a couple of other new geometry engines for Trestle we could show you.

Sounds cool. Easyjet are currently showing a £50 return flight to Bilbao from London Stansted. Anyone interested, we could share a car/taxi, it's about 40 miles from the airport.

Brian, wifi-mac-isight all at hand, so why not ;).
Nige, Ryanair operates Vitoria (VIT)-Stansted(STN). Vitoria have a small & near airport to La Rioja, role more people and i´ll pick u in airport :applause:.
In any case mail me and i´ll do my best to help.

Excellent. With 10.4 we can have multiple people chatting at once. I think it will work out great.
07-05-2006, 09:59 AM
but how about a pc user?
07-05-2006, 04:50 PM
That's gonna be tougher. iChat can communicate with AIM users... but the quality of connection isn't very good. Suggestions?
07-05-2006, 04:54 PM
I don't know how many people I can muster here in LA...but it would be nice to get a group of LA / CA users meeting at the same time. We can try to have a round table discussion via iChat. The other option would be to set up some sort of streaming broadcast for PC people.. it just starts getting complicated.. iChat is just so easy.
07-05-2006, 07:00 PM
iChat is nice, but you will lost the eat and drink of La Rioja.... the "other" Meeting :)

Counting people who will meet in September (until now):
Luis Díaz Faes Santiago
Gustavo Muñoz (decídete, Gustavo)
David Argemí (¿no nos vas a fallar, eh?)
Jens Moller (hey Jens, we want to know some news about Rodeo development)
John Knoll (we know that you like an old good Spanish red wine )
Somebody more? I'm sure we will enjoy that days :)
07-07-2006, 09:42 PM
David Argemi and Santi are SURE too ;)
Matt Hoffman ( Universal port is hard, get holidays in Spain!)
Igors (...the "other" meeting...)
07-20-2006, 04:04 PM
Only one small reminder: the top date to make your reservation is July 31, ten days from now ;-)
All the best.
