I need to find the best possible solution to getting a pipeline from XSI to Maya and back. It is full character w. blendshapes. Any suggestions and pro's/con's would be greatly appreciated!

It would help to know exactly what you are doing in Maya and what you are doing in XSI. If you are just animating in Maya, most people use mesh baking solutions like Point Oven to transfer animation between packages. If you want to transfer rigs and shaders back and forth then it is very difficult and you should probably re-evaluate that pipeline.
