View Full Version : How to get lightwave particles in to vue.

Hereīs an Idea..havenīt tried it out..cause Iīm having problems with the sync plugin..have to reinstall..and fix..but...

If we were to create a particle emitter..and then simply fx replace those with copied point lights...wouldnīt it be possible to export those lights and movements in to vue infinite?

then of course..we have to replace those lights with the object for our love..fishes or spaceships, birds or other items..anyone tried this?

I don't know of any way to get Lw particle into Vue, but you can use the sync plugin to sync the cameras and render out the particle in Lw then compsite them together in After Effects.

here are two of my exmaples:

Well, i have not tried that in Lightwave (i do not have Lightwave) but in Cinema 4D.

I created particle systems and "froze" specific situations (times) into objects then there. Exported those objects as 3DS and imported that into Vue. Worked - beside the fact that you can create monsters in terms of polygons easily.

Of course it is not animated but gives you some options for fuzzy objects you do not have in Vue.

well for getting smoke or fire effect with particles..of course using sync plugin and composing is the way to go...but thats not what I was aiming for...the idea is to get the particle motion in to vue infinite..and in vue replace those lights that represent the particles with
pre animated meshes from poser for a that we can have animated birds, dragons or a quick way...and all objects are reacting correctly to the vue environment..
havenīt still had the time to check it out...and when I come to think of migh be that lights cant be used in a object replacement way? have to check..

So if anyone gets it to work?...thumbs up.

I got the syncro fixed now...actually it was me not setting the right fps right...
replacing lights with objects works in vue..
and I created a particle emitter..just a few particles..and replaced them with Lightwave...and they all show up in the vue sync item list in Lightwave...selected them all
and the syncro was succesfull it says..but...only one light was showing up in vue...have to test it more..if it can be done or not...

Hey people

This looks like a good challenge...I'll give it a crack and if I get it (I have an idea how to do it) I'll make a video tute...This might help...When in vue, with the lights sync'd (from lw) add more lights (In Vue) then sync those lights (vue lights) with the lw lights in the animation tab list one by one..
..check this link out. (

If its your first time at the following..
click the link
go to the "free" icon (bottom right) click.
then you have to wait 45 seconds, and the download link will become available.
type in the 3 letters, download..all 7 videos are zipped together.
(man I hope it works)..good luck and enjoy

thanks..Ivan B I will try your suggestions out...would be nice to have those particle motions..and then replace it with animated poser objects perhaps...
I havenīt been able to check your tuts...because itīs always bandwith exceeded...and when i finally get to download..I have to log in? with what ..? do I have to register there first or?

right now...Im back to Lightwave and trying to do some landscape renders in there..cause ogo taiki gives so cool skies..and sasquatch for the grass...trying to use sas on trees aswell..

No need to log in...Try the rapidshare link and download all the videos...I have started the new tute, its pretty full on but it works...The videos should help you out with regard to setting your scene up in vue..As long as you have your lights in LW, you can sync them in vue..
If you can try to get video 1 and 2 at will help...To make the new tute a lot more usefull what are you going to do with the emitter, as I can try to replicate it in the video..Currently I have linked 3 characters to an emitter and their walking.

I just had a quick play in LW, and worked out that if you create an emitter and limit it to what ever you want...You can use FX Linker and link lights to the points and synch them into vue..

I have created 2 tutes detailing this...Videos 8 & 9..There is also an update to the 4th tute (4a missing shadows)
