I think the First Contact DVD is NTSC, meaning it playing in you dvd player/tv. I'd recommend against that-tvs can't play the high resolution that XSI requires, so it's very hard to read what's on screen.

I like the training at ( Well worth the money! 9 hours for $50.. That's like taking a class and paying minimum wage!

For getting started, the two best options are the "Introduction to XSI" from Digital Tutors, and "Getting Started With XSI" from 3D Tutorial.

The 3D Tutorial set contains far more information and covers a wider number of topics, whilst the Digital Tutors set is based around a single project, but follows it from start to finish. It depends on your learning preference.

I'd go with Digital Tutors Introduction to XSI 2nd Edition especially as a complete beginner to XSI. You should be capable after completing the lessons to use various tools + start your own lil projects. I like how things are explained well in most of the vids I've seen from them.

If you haven't already you can get an idea how the product will be by checking out some of their free tutorials at:

I would go with They consistently have the best training for XSI. The others aren't bad, but 3dTutorial is better and contains much more information.
