Hi all , i'm learning matte painting in my free times , as i guess matte painting is dealing mostly with pictures , i thought it would be nice to put some of the pictures i took here in Tokyo .
Some samples can be found here (see my posts):

Grab the pictures here:
(167 photos , res:1200*900, total file size :about 65MB , use winrar to decompress )

OR (

Feel free to use them for whatever you want , and it would be nice to see some of yours too:)

PS: Don't expect a great quality , the pictures were shot with a cheap camera............a very very cheap one .

This is a good idea! It makes it easier for people, namely me, who dont travel alot to get decent images from a source who knows what we want. I think I will start posting my images from my neck of the woods.

*edit: cant seem to download your .rar file it always times out any way you can move to another location?

*re edit: Ok saw your other mirror, duh me, RapidShare works fine! Thx Again

One link doesnt work, and the other one uses rapidshare - i hate rapidshare! I can never get anything to bloody download off it!

From the looks of the pics in the 'what did you do this weekend' threads, they look really nice and id love to see em.
I always wondered how busy that market bit at the kannon temple go during the festivals. There was some festival on at meiji jingu when i was there and that was really busy too.

Here are some pics i took in january. I had to pic some of the best ones out of 600 pics, and theyve been scaled down to 25%, but they get the job done.
Hope you like em:

Except for Asakusa festival i don't go to the other festivals , too crowded !

thanks for sharing , maybe we all should upload some of our own country photos and share with all the people, that would become a really high class resource for any kind of cultural elements and architecture around the world, very useful for all matte painters and anyone interested in culture.

Do you have them bigger? :)

01 January 2007, 05:14 AM
Xdreamer, since Im just reposting the original poster .rar file I cant say for sure if there are bigger ones, I dont believe so though. I am planning on up loading some Arizona shots when I get the chance for all others who need more reference. I really think this is a great idea. I'd love to have some european and city scapes if anyone is willing to share.

I have a ton of Japan pictures, too... taken with a pretty crappy camera (actually two or three crappy cameras), but I can upload in larger quality if there's a demand for it.

Fukuroda falls:

Kyoto (lots of temples):

Nikko (lots of temples):

Kamakura (which SamSed posted some pix of earlier on):

Tochigi prefecture:

Emperor's Palace (not as nice as you might think):

Fuji (not many pics... it's honestly kind of ugly):

Singapore (not Japan, but hell, I got 135 photos):
