thanks, glad you all like it!
woooo, you speak a little swedish? cool! say something else please :D
yes, you might be right about the earTrumpet and the size of the ears :) but I thought it fitted good(thanks to pabbloz for the earTrumpet idea btw)
me to :) I will leave it like this a week or so, and then slowly start to texture the whole body.
here's a little tutorial I made for you, if there's something you don't understand, go ahead and ask.
Making the Pearls
first, I draw a spline for where I want the "rope/necklace/bracelet/whatever" to be, making sure it matches the body pretty decent.
then I make the "rope", in a straight position(in this case I made a simple one, but for more detail you can twist it etc.. making it look more like a rope)
with some subdivisions(the more subdivisions = more pearls, you'll see later on why)
then I run a plugin for lightwave called "c_bend" which will bend the straight rope along the curve, aligning the points/segments evenly.
now we have our "pearl rope", so the only thing left is the pearls.
you can go 2 ways, depending on the amount of detail/perfection you want. I'll show the simple way first, and later on the "hard" way.
here I "kill" the polygons, leaving only the points. then I merge each "section of points" to an average, this will leave a centered point on each segment of the rope.
you'll use these points to clone the pearls to. so, make a pearl(or anything else).
put the points in the background, and the pearl in the foreground.
now I use a function in lightwave called "point clone plus" in lightwave. run it, and choose the appropriate parameters, and ta-tta! done.. now you can keep on adding pearls, changing their size etc..
if you want the pearls to be more detailed, maybe with a hole in the center of them for the "rope" you can do like this.
kill the polygons, leaving the points.
instead of welding/merging them to an average, make a 4point polygon of each segment.
now, I use another plugin for lightwave called "SP_Clone_LE". basically it clones objects to the polygons, aligning them with the polygons normals.
so, model the pearl. place the pearl you just modeled in the CENTER/ORIGIN(important with this specific plugin if you want the pearls to be centered on the polygons).
then put it in the Background layer, select the polygons(in the foreground layer) you want to clone the pearl to.
run the plugin.. and ta-tta! evenly spaced pearls, and they are facing the right direction, with the holes through the rope.
I worked really hard today to fix the legs, all just for you, my french love.

probably the final for this challenge, I will keep working on him after the challenge though, and texture him completely.
and here are some wireframe shoots as promised, click the image for larger image:

Mangled Poly, Ech0, - OZ-, b.Schulz, betooo
thanks for your support!
or maybe you can't resist it ?
ahahah, I think your right about that. I'm really curious of what the next challenge-subject will be :)
i would like to see some high qual render of the textured version because i want to put this on my wall (if its possible)
you mean for your actual wall, or wallpaper? I can make some for wallpapers, but I don't like sending printresolution images over the web.
guess you got your answer from betooo :) thanks for the compliments!
guess I would go ahead and tell everyone that I will be making a couple of tutorials of how I made this character as I've gotten quite some questions about it already. they will be short ones, yet informative.
so if there's anything in particular anyone would like to know, shoot me a mail and tell me what you would like to see, if the idea is good, or enough ppl wants the same thing, I'll add it.
