(Perhaps it will be climbing ivy on the building).
This is non-commercial project.
Modeling -- Maya.
Rendering -- Vray(3dsMax).

Looks totally amazing.
The cloth bump texture seems messed up around his midsection.
You are just such an inspiration to us all. Thanks for sharing your work.
Hey MODS!!! When does he get an award?!!
01 January 2003, 07:00 PM
Your work is amazing!
your rendered style looks just like a painting.
What is the work process you follow?
01 January 2003, 07:03 PM
Ahaha! Very funny!
I like very much the style render!
And great job on the hands,... but overall, really cool proportions! very cartoon! Strikes 3D stereotips models!
I could suggest some things, but I think you got you wanted, so now It's personal tastes :)
Any possibility to see more views of this model? Has he got feet?
P.S.: 5 stars of course!

Nothing to say, /me bow in admiration.
Except forearms , a little bit too tubular.
01 January 2003, 09:02 PM
I'm starting thinkin there's someone who gives 1 or 2 stars on purpose, this thread should deserve 6 or even 7 stars, not only 5 (the maximum). I've noticed many threads with sudden changes in stars rating, it's impossible to have 5 stars for a couple days and then suddenly watching the rating gone down to 3. TO THE MODS: i suggest forcing people to make a public vote, i know we're in democracy and vote's secret but there's been something uncorrect about ratings during these days. If people don't want to give their identity they can decide to don't bother themselves and don't vote.
01 January 2003, 09:05 PM
It`s marvelous, and Syomka is an extraordinary artist, modelling , composition, lighting, all is superb.
But i would like to point the attention on the idiot who gave 1 star to this post, whoever he is.
I hope that he will sleep well tonite, pleased of his mediocrity.
Do u think that this voting system based on anonymous stars has still any sense ?
Compliments again Syomka.
01 January 2003, 09:32 PM
Wow, it's AMAZING, really fantastic job.
01 January 2003, 09:33 PM
I personally don't take the whole voting seriously...in my threads I just look at the comments anyways...not how many stars I have....but...i'm sure others feel differently...
Btw...this model/character looks like humphrey bogart to me...great job again....
01 January 2003, 09:40 PM
Remi: surely everyone with a grain of salt in the brain doesn't give a fuc* about stars but it's not fair to have this sudden lags in ratings. just my 2 cents.
01 January 2003, 09:40 PM
Wow, how many replies for so short time.
Thank you very much people.
"come on do a tutorial, don't be greedy, share the knowledge"
"What is the work process you follow?"
- I'll update my home page in the near future. There I'll try to explain some my method of work.
"...the face reminds me Al pacino ........."
Yes, I used some photo of Al Pacino for created this character.
-Don't worry. Stars aren't main thing.
Look at this link:

We have disabled voting for guests, so that might help some, and I definitely noticed it, maybe it's jealousy?
Awesome work there syomka, coming from the anatomy king, I expect nothing less ;)
You have received the CGtalk choice award . Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Awesome stuff can't wait to see more
upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame - when it becomes available

01 January 2003, 11:12 PM
Nothing short of spectacular. Great job.
01 January 2003, 11:51 PM
Beautiful!.. I love the feel of this. The character reminds me somewhat of the Scientist in the ILM short Work in Progress.
The only thing I can think of to critique would be the forearm part of the jacket. Seems to feel a bit too cylinderish. I liked how you added wrinkles in the fabric near the shoulder bicep region, maybe if you spread that down to the forearm that might help out.
Keep up the good work!
01 January 2003, 01:06 AM
well done, reminds me of krüger's caricatures!
01 January 2003, 02:21 AM

wow, I love this. I am a huge Frankenstein fan so this is just fantastic. Couple questions of course.
I am not sure I understand your methodology, you model in Maya and then render in Max ?
What did you use for the hair?
I have followed your other posts, mostly because of "thirdeye"s recommendations, and you have some fantastic pieces on this forum. Thanks for sharing.
01 January 2003, 05:30 AM
It's Tom Waits as a young man!
Or so it would seem to be.....especially if you were drunk while looking at it.
Oh ya....good job.
01 January 2003, 05:40 AM

Excellent, excellent work. Each part of this work is great, from the modelling to the lighting. There is a real sense of subtlety in your work, which really adds to the piece, in my opinion. This is definitely an artistic success...
