The SIGGRAPH conference has not been in Boston since 1989. Do you remember it? Are you planning to return this July 30 to August 3? Or is this your first SIGGRAPH conference and you’re looking for information? Are you a Boston native and have tips to share about the area? Whether this is your first or 15th conference, let DC_SIGGRAPH help you prepare for this event.
Join DC_SIGGRAPH for an informal gathering to discuss the best way to prepare for the SIGGRAPH conference in Boston - how to get the most out of the conference, what to pack, how to plan your week. Learn how to get involved with the ACM SIGGRAPH Professional and Student Chapters Committee at the conference by volunteering at the Chapters booth, plan your schedule and share your past experiences with first time conference attendees. For those of you who will not be attending the entire week or cannot make it to Boston at all, network with the group and arrange an information exchange after the conference.
DC_SIGGRAPH invites this year’s SIGGRAPH participants to take part in this event. The event will be held Wednesday, June 14, from 7 – 9 pm at the BAE Systems. BAE is located at 8201 Greensboro Drive, Suite 1200, McLean, VA 22102. Directions to BAE Systems can be found at:
The first hour of the evening we will hear conference and registration information, share experiences, and tips-and-tricks to get the most out of the SIGGRAPH conference. Afterwards we can head to the Holiday Inn next door for continued networking, sharing and thirst quenching. If you are interested in attending, please email us at email@example.com

DC_SIGGRAPH's Demo Reel Night (Part 2)
What makes a good demo reel? How long should it be? What should I include in my portfolio? Where can I get information about making a good demo reel? These are questions facing everyone in the world of computer graphics and, in view of a shrinking economy, questions that become increasingly important. Join us on Wednesday, June 21 at the Mantech Building in Fair Oaks, Virginia as DC_SIGGRAPH welcomes our guest speaker, Jef Shears as he helps us find the answers to these questions and more.
Students, Interns, Rookies and Veterans are invited to take part in an open discussion with Jef Shears as he relates his experiences on the “Do’s and Don’ts for Creating a Demo Reel.” During his 12 years in video games, Jef has worked as a lead artist or senior level artist/designer on a number of titles and platforms. His tenure includes stops at Atari, THQ and Global VR, among others.
Titles Jef has worked on include the arcade versions of San Francisco Rush, Gauntlet: Legends and PGA Tour Golf, and console/pc games Freeze, Nuclear Strike 64, Jet Moto 3, MX 2002, MX Superfly, and WWE Crush Hour.
