View Full Version : Problems with Lume Mental Ray Shader

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to enable to Lume shader in 3dsMax 8.
I've opened: 3dsMax8\mentalray\shaders_standard\include\lume.mi
and I've deleted all the "hidden" tags. However this error pops up when I launch Max.
MSG 0.0 error: Shader declaration 'LumeTools' has no apply type. This shader cannot be used in 3ds max until it has at least one apply type.

Does anybody know the solution to this?

I don't know specifically much about Lume Mental Ray Shader, but that error message you are getting is Mental Ray telling you that in each shader declaration block that starts with 'declare shader' and ends with 'end declare', there must be a line that tells 3ds max how the shader is to be used. For example: 'apply texture', 'apply lens' and many others.
