um, 15 or 60?

I had been planning on painting a landscape today, and so I started my morning by going online and saving a bunch of landscape references. Then I looked up what they daily sketch topic was, and I immediately thought of one of the pics I had saved.

So, yeah, I used a ref. Painted in Photoshop in 30 minutes. Hehe, I'm a bad girl, but I just can't do 15 minutes.

06-05-2006, 06:24 PM
Sylanya - very impressive work in 30 mins

I end up going the other way with 15 minutes and spend less time and not doing anything to touch up the image at all (although i clearly should!)

Anyways - 8 minutes, PS + tablet

06-05-2006, 06:43 PM
14 mins :D

06-05-2006, 07:25 PM
I've never played the game "Alone in the dark" and even forgot what the film was about so... I just hope this is appropriate. Guess who did I decide to portray! Yeha...that's it, The batman! Definately he's one of my favourite superheroes.

15 minutes, photoshop and wacom. (

06-05-2006, 07:34 PM
This sh.. took a whole 30 mins. Added the "palette kinfe" filter so the final image looks almost decent to post

06-05-2006, 07:59 PM
Well, I snuck 60 minutes, since it says that in the body of the post -- at any rate, it's terrible -- this was all I could manage in 60 minutes, rendering a face takes eons... not to mention hair, which I only blocked in GAH this is awful :)

06-05-2006, 08:01 PM

15 min/ wacom/PS7

06-05-2006, 10:18 PM
Here´s mine. 15 min, PSCS2, wacom

06-06-2006, 12:06 AM
My alone in the dark sketch...originally meant as love sketch, but i think it suits alone in the dark better. 10 min in photoshop, wacom. would really appreciate some colour advice.... ta all.

06-06-2006, 12:19 AM

06-06-2006, 01:05 AM
This is meant to syomolise those times in the darkness when we are overcome by fear, panic and utter lonliness.

10min Photoshop (with Wacom)

Children are more aware of extra- planar creatures than we. Dismiss not their night terrors, for the monster under the bed is real.

Mine was called Denis. 15 mins in Painter

06-06-2006, 02:39 AM
Just over 15 minutes using pen & paper, I hope to find time to finish it later..

Really outstanding works today, here's a few that really stand out for me:
CaveatScoti- Looks great, as always.
Kimded- I love charcoal sketches, and that's what yours look like to me. Two thumbs up.
lhz & Crimsonstring- Great lighting for both sketches.
theoxygenthief- Soooo cute...

06-06-2006, 03:48 AM
Ok, so I went for the 60 min. thing. ...Oh, and I should mention I used a ref as a springboard.
But here's what it looked like at 15 min. :)
and here's after an hour

06-06-2006, 04:34 AM
Well here is my first ever! This is my first daily sketch and first use of a tablet. I hope to improve as I go.

Probably looks totally different on another monitor.

06-06-2006, 07:00 AM
OK, here is my first sketch post in here.
Alone in the drak, 20 mins by Painter.
It's so fun to see other people's sketch, and I really like this topic....

I want to perform a quiet and peaceful feeling in the dark water,
but, well......I'm afraid it seems more like a drown dead body...

06-07-2006, 12:17 AM
Felt like drawing an eye
Found out that if you draw small in photoshop then size it up, you get interesting effects (loss of quality, though)
But I thought it looked sort of photograph-like, the effect, kind of sorta a bit.

15 minutes

hey all,

This was my first post in DST, i recently bought a wacom and as i have been a sketch artist working with pencil all of my life i've found digital coloring very daunting. Thank you Wiggin and Mehmi for the words of encouragement, allthough it may seem small to you guys it really gives me the will to ram my head against this brick wall a little longer and not give up on the idea all together...... i even got a sketch of the day vote *sniff* *sniff* :-)

All right, enough soppiness :-p

06-23-2006, 02:55 AM
