Drawing by the end of the weekend!

"bout friggin' time!"

01 January 2003, 07:46 PM

The obin are forrest dwellers. The are one of the smallest races on middle earth. They were created by elf magic watch over the forrest passage ways of middle earth and report any happenings to the elves.

They are always a pair, meaning each Obin has a twin. One cannot survive without the other. The stand between 16 and 24 inches high. Since the were created from elf magic they have special limited abilities. They are very fast and agile. They can also shape shift into other creatures they're size. They have the ability to communicate with their twin telepathically, as well as most animal and elves. They are for the most part peaceful, but can be great assets in battle as spies since the have the ability to blend into their environments.

Thats it for now. I working on the sketch, I won'thave my scanner back until tomorrow.

01 January 2003, 03:03 AM
Thanks oz!

As always I wish I was as quick as you witht the concepts.

I've done a few quick sketches based on one of my fav comic artists francisco herrera. I love how he draws his characters. still no scanner yet.

These two obin don't exactly look alike. One will be slightly thicker than the other and they will be dressed differently.

Great concept!! I love it.

My character is a sort of magical product creature too... and a reporter too! Hehe. Nice coincidence.

I can't wait to see some sketches.

01 January 2003, 03:02 AM

01 January 2003, 05:24 AM
Didnt have time to put in much work today on the model but I did start the teeth.

Good night :wavey: I'm beat.

01 January 2003, 12:27 AM
comin along nice:thumbsup: ..seein your startin to put in some morph-maps...

may the weeks-end bring sununshine to your neighborhood and speed to your creativity:cool:

01 January 2003, 12:55 PM
No morph maps yet the defualt morph will be with the mouth open because i have to close the mouth with the teeth in it. I have so little time these days with work and all. Hopefully this weekend the gods of 3d will grant me the ability to model some kick as ears at least.

Jerseys still cold and it snowed like a mofo last night I find out as i'm looking out the window. This just means the eagles are gonna kick tampa bays ass this sunday.

Thanks for the comments Pigwater. Anyone else feel free to chime in if they think this completely sucks or think its better than a 5 years old attempt at modeling.

Hasta la Pasta! time to put in another 9 hours at the mortgage company.

01 January 2003, 01:15 AM
I've been slacking. I started the ears, they still are a bit goofy looking and the teeth aren't 100% yet.

Tell me what you think. I'm going to work on it some more tonight.

01 January 2003, 12:14 AM :wavey:

01 January 2003, 02:48 AM

01 January 2003, 03:50 AM
Slowly, but surely.

01 January 2003, 04:16 AM

02 February 2003, 11:07 PM

02 February 2003, 02:47 AM
Coming along nicely :)

The shoulders are a little oddly shaped though... And he needs nipples desperately!! :D

There is something about his face that reminds me of the character "Roach" from the 80's film "The People Under The Stairs" :surprised

02 February 2003, 03:02 AM
heh ... funny ... reminds me of Kevin Bacon ... nevertheless the model is tre nice ..

02 February 2003, 04:31 PM
Leigh :
My girlfriend said the same things about the shoulders so I'm gonna make some changes. Ant the nipples are coming. Unless I decide the this race doesn't have nipples, But nipples are great and every creature needs nipples so I guess they'll go in.

Kevin Bacon? I would have never seen that. Thanks for the comp.

02 February 2003, 05:33 PM
... no problemz dmonk ... was watching 'the hollow man' a few days ago and yer character reminded me of K.B. ... while you're at the shoulders you might wanna look at the collarbone too ... the tendons from the neck seem to go over it and connect to the pectorals ... just an observation ...

02 February 2003, 05:57 PM
I noticed that I just haven't gotten to it yet. Thanks though.:wavey:

02 February 2003, 04:18 AM

Green or Grey? Just trying out the xsi exp on my home pc. They have this eyeshader but I don't know if i'm going to use it. Sorry for the slow progress. I'm just to tired at the end of the day to work on this.

02 February 2003, 01:34 AM
it sucks but theres no way in hell I'm finishing by the deadline. But you will see this guy in the work in progress section.

I was think how much this character reminded me of nightcrawler, who knows.

Oh well.

Another one bites the dust.

02 February 2003, 04:21 AM

Last update for a while. this thread will pop up again on the works in progress forum.
It's been fun!:wavey:

02 February 2003, 03:07 PM
