View Full Version : theFirstAngels: the Journey continues

05 May 2006, 03:15 PM

As for i have put tons of work into the piece that was at the end simply not possible to finish the way i started it, here is the place i will finish the piece, split in different pieces each and continuosly will update those, step by step.

as for the intro, home of the sorceress, a little sketch to start this in good fortune with a
little bit of magic to finally bring the journey to a nice end :) the journey continues...

very nice setting angel~the journey continues eh~u've go into a new set of pallete :)looking forward to this

05 May 2006, 03:53 PM
ok, here's whats to do: first the original piece as it was and i had to give up cuz my machine couldnt handle it.

now for the split pieces, that i will paint as individual pieces each:

on the borders of the unknown:

the legions of darkness:

closeup of the marching army:

leaving the imperial town: (closeup)

as for the portraits: i will finish each portrait as individual piece of the characters in their natural environment, Elf in his enchanted forest, dwarf in the high mountains, Paladin in front of a mirror practicing nice looking poses :p....

oh yep and here's a closeup on the sorceress again, the reason for i have started overwork the whole level of detail again, cuz i think she's one of my best portraits of a fantasy character :)

so this is where it starts, welcome to the journey part 2 :)

The borders of the Unknown is my favourite, hope you polish it up good :D. heheh.

05 May 2006, 04:00 PM
gosh u r fast~ahaha~it was a pity u didnt get to finish the challenge ,however~i hope u will finish this for good, besides,i think its kinda good to split it up nd do a stand alone piece for each and everyone of them:)man this is going to be a great thread to follow:D have fun mate

05 May 2006, 04:06 PM
so you started to work like a crazy horse after the challenge finished ???
keep it up sasha..

05 May 2006, 04:51 PM
Looking great man! Keep on rocking! :)

05 May 2006, 04:53 PM
Geeez your getting better with every update. Not my place to crit really. The eyes in the journey contiues seems slightly strange (the outer one - her left) The greens are refreshing change from the purple palette you've seemed to grow fond of :) The journey part 2 could use some wildlife in the background to liven up the slightly static feels its giving atm.

Well enough ranting on my end, waiting for more updates :D

05 May 2006, 06:25 PM
it's so huge, how could you have finished it in time?! but you ARE going to finish it and I'm looking forward to the final masterpiece :)

05 May 2006, 06:43 PM

05 May 2006, 09:12 PM

05 May 2006, 12:42 PM
Wow, great work! I have one minor crit : the head of the girl in the journey part 2 should be a little bit larger and her left eye is higher than the right one. Everything else looks really great and very promising! I love the way you're using the colours!

05 May 2006, 02:56 PM
update tonight? are you gonna finish one of them... naaaa... or? :p

them look good tho... looking forward to see them progress...

05 May 2006, 04:19 PM
man if u someday put all that crap on the same level with the face closeup
in quality this is gonna be one of the coolest pics ever

but somehow i have this hunch it's okay to check for updates here every three years or so :wise:

06 June 2006, 06:10 AM
Hey Sacha! To bad you couldn't finish this in time - but somehow you don't sound to disappointed about it. Good luck in finishing this fine piece - I'll be back and check you

Dianae: yeah that sketch went a bit wrong, wanted her to slightly lay her head to the side, means, away from point of view but then messed up the shading, prbably in case this expands, i will work out that sketch and of course set the odd light right :)

Mona, yeah sort of. not night but morning, done a lil doodling, so thought i post it.

Squib: thx bro

Gunnie: true. i hate it if i have no chance to finish a piece the way i'd expect my self to do so, just cuz of the lack of time. thats why i happily took a project i like over to the wip's in manner of a better work and not messing up parts i am happy with with sum shodly speedpainting :)

here's a little update on the doom travelgroup, as we speak, the whole bunch ready to go shopping and visiting the lands of the living :p wheeeee their journey has began. i expanded the right side for having space for a real composition and added a few sharp rox, and a big fat beast of burden in the far midground. ok, the fun has began, as sooon as the composition works, the detail level gets a massive burst. like the composition so far?

06 June 2006, 09:12 AM
yeah, comp is really good, could be a piece of it's own.

btw. it's amazing how much I can imagine from the lowest detail level parts.

06 June 2006, 10:24 AM

ok, this is where it restarts, that's the new layout and another run begins :) the journey continues.
this is a good moment to explain the elements of the piece
the stone is the main thing. found by the dwarves, forged to the godly "stone of life" by the elves, stolen by the fallen king of the neighborkingdom to revive his murdered love. he fails and in his wrath, he is raising an undead army to destroy the 3 kingdoms once and for all. 4 heroes sent to the quest to get it back.
upper right corner: the dark lord and his army. headerbackground the dark lord headerright part: on the borders of the unknown, the heroes enter the dark kingdom.
lower left corner: the dark lord and his son, raven. lower right corner: estelliels mother overrun by demons in the temple when the dark lord steals the relict.
centerscene header: portraits from left to right. rugnar, the dwarf; the elvish halfbrother of estelliel; kunibert of goldenshine - paladin of the hearts - champion of the great empire a blessed warrior - the holy words speaking bringer of the godly light and slayer of the hellscum (kidding); and estelliel, the halfelvish elemental sorceress and mainhero of the story :)
center:the heroes leave the imperial city. the journey begins :D yay, finally nailed this. now on with detailing :)

02 February 2007, 11:57 PM
