View Full Version : The baby project

Hello people, this is the baby project.
I’ve used stockphoto material and my own photo’s to create this image.
It’s not a drawing, not a 3d max image but it’s all done in photoshop.
The whole idea is to create a futuristic image of a baby that’s being fed with ‘advertising’ by tubes and wires. The baby is connected to bottles that contain the reason why and how the baby will react to advertising when it grows up.
Here is the whole work in progress. (http://members.home.nl/tijgernootje/)
and this is the latest part of it:
I'ts not done yet. I was wondering what you people think of it, is there anything missing?
( I’ll be adding labels on the bottles that contain: “fashion” / “music” / “looks” etc...)
* Already fixed the gravity flaw

Very cool. I like the composition, idea and colores used.
My only crit would be that you should perhaps create a more dramatic mood. How do you want the viewer to feel when looking at this?
Right now the lightning is pretty much the same everywhere. You could add more darks and maybe "unnatural" lightning to make it more scarier, if that is the mood you are going for.
Cool to see your differant steps.
Keep it up.

From the start I had the idea to let the people look at all the tubes and bottles, that’s the main part of the image. They look at it and think, where does that go? The next step would be to follow the tubes and see the hopeless baby with it’s teddybear.
That would be the ‘shock’ part. I’ve been to save with it I guess, I’ll add some more dramatic shaddows and add some little scarry details. I think the baby should be in darkness and the main light source should be around the bottles.
I’ll update when i’ve made some changes...gonna be a long night =)

This is more like it.
I've added darker shadows, a different color in the background. More details hidden in the shadows. And i've added darkness to the baby, the skin color has more gray to it.
I've removed the bubbles (there way to fake)
What do you think? the bottles to bright?

I think the worst problem in using stock and other photo's for putting them together in another piece is inconsistent lighting. Light sources are almost always in different places in different images, and they don't interact with eachother.
To give it a sense of realism , and then credibility and mood, you should work on making it work logically. For instance the places where the tubes connect they should be in place and eminating parallel from the surface or the surface shoultwist into place. :)
Hope this helps, and nice work so far.

I'll start by removing bright lights and shiny parts that aren't supposed to be there. Shadows and light on the skin so the skin is altered of tubes being attached to it. All tubes need to have the same lightning.

Yes, very nice update. Now I can really sense the mood. You´re headed in the right direction.
And about the bottles. Maybe a tad too bright but I think it works. It doesn´t disturb me in any way.
