View Full Version : Quite River

Hey there, this is my first thread in the 2D section and I'd like to ask you guys to give some comment and/or advise to my latest WIP.
I started this painting this morning in Photoshop and I've been working on it for about 7 hours in total. It's one of my first environmental designs in Photoshop and I'm doing it with a mouse. (I should really get a tablet)
I'm pretty satisfied for a first timer, but I'm still planning on changing it a lot ... hopefully with your help. I need to give the riverbank a nice rocky texture and I'm not sure what it is, but the trees aren't looking superB. When those things are done, I hope to add some more stuff in the fore- and background.
Greetings Rob Hermans

advice 1: get a tablet!
advice 2: get a tablet!
advice 3: get a tab...
ok ok... well one of the big problems in a scene like this is, that it's very empty, even in nature. So you need to have good details to make the image looking good (in this case the trees, for example). I also think that the water is a bit too quiet :)
keep it up...
...and get a TABLET! :p
Here is another tip...
...Get a tablet... :)
Yeah, a bit empty, maybe some ripples in the water or a bird or something - Or maybe even a fisherman in a small boat...
It looks real nice though

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses.
Here's another question: Should I get a tablet? :D
Haven't worked on it since I posted it, but I'll keep you informed when I've done some more.

If you plan to do any sort of digital art more than once every 2 years, you should get a tablet. They make the painting process much faster and easier, and since it gives you more control, the results are often better (unless you're the type who can spend three hours correcting each stroke).

Hey you guys,
it's been a long time.
Still don't have a tablet, but i'm getting closer to buying one. There's just so much I should buy (new monitor i.e.)
But hey, I promised updates...so here are 2:
The first one is from 7 september (exactly 1 month ago)
The second one is from 7 october
I didn't work the full month on changes, but just 2 days (2-3 hours in the evening).
Tell me what you think...please
