View Full Version : Autodesk CAD files import to XSI?

05 May 2006, 03:47 PM
I will soon be using XSI to build stairs (including rail, treads, and balusters) for my company's website. It would be a huge help if CAD files could be imported directly into XSI, then all I would need to worry about is texturing, lighting and rendering, without all the modeling (which could eat up valuable time).

Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice!

Hey Eternal Art,

Thank you for the response, but for some reason that URL does not work. I also tried "save target as..." and that got the same result. Could there be a tweak needed in the name you provided? Or is there another way to access the file you are directing me to?

Thanks again...

OKay Eternal Art,

I'm not out of the woods yet... Is there a certain procedure to make use of the program you directed me to? So far I have tried opening it, only to get an error:

"The program failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate"

I tried dragging a DXF file directly to it, but that got the same result.
Do you know or have any idea why this is happening?

And be sure to read the post about outputting your files from Autocad. Otherwise the import will fail.
