this is something i've been working on for the past few days. i just started sketching and this is what happened. i'm losing steam, though, so i was hoping i could get some fresh inspiration through the eyes of others, so here it is:

initial sketch:

clean up:

more cleaning:

some color:

the shoes are meant to have a sort of new-car finish to them (if i can pull it off). let me know what you think of her.

very good look with the new car shoes

i like the render on the shoes but perhaps it would be best not to paint on a white background

as to the sketch of the character the pose feels rather stiff and even with exaggeration of the proportions there are anatomy issues that need addressing

second pass on the shoes... just needs some reflections, maybe a levels tweak, and i think the paneling will be all set.

thanks, aldog.

Defcombeta: the final background will not be white, but perhaps there is some reason i've not heard for not working on white. the pose is a bit stiff, isn't it, but i think it's ok... she's almost standing at attention. this was a pretty quick sketch. i wasn't very careful with proportions and anatomy, but i'd love to hear what caught your eye.

ok, another pass on the shoes... they still need reflections, but i'm about ready to start spreading my attention elsewhere. i'm not sure if i'm dreading or looking forward to making the lights all shiny looking. ah, well, here it is:

sebkeb2: ya, all photoshop and my trusty wacom intuos.

Nice conept.
I gather that was your ref pic for the car material in the top of the second last picture you posted. One thing that differs in yours is the reflections. The reflections in yours are blurry whereas in the ref they are crisp. I guarantee if you do the same it will look much more like a shiny car material.
Keep up the good work!

good eye, pap. the highlights and reflections will receive some more attention. i'm going to move up and do some more work on the body first, so i don't burn myself out on the boots. i'm not sure what i'm going to do with the giant glove though... it seemed like a good idea at the time.

i'll gloss up the boots next, i think. maybe i'll see what i can do with those headlights.
