I need all of you who have posted in the past to post your best sketch on this thread.

Spread the word.

It is really important.

Picture 2 (
Picture 3 (
Picture 4 (
Picture 5 (

05 May 2006, 02:23 PM
I narrowed it down to:

5 characters wearing the same clothes (
Redraw your first Daily Sketch ( ** If I had to pick one as the best, it would be this one

What's the occasion Roberto?

05 May 2006, 02:45 PM
I'm not sure which one is my best, I don't participate as often as I'd like, and most of them aren't very good. I guess these are the ones I am most proud of.

"Red Dragon"

"Bad Karma" I am strangely fond of this one. I don't know why, I just like it.

"My Pet"

05 May 2006, 02:47 PM

... is it important like in life threatening important?

05 May 2006, 03:28 PM

05 May 2006, 03:45 PM
Haven't participated very much here either, so I'd have to go with one from #706, but then I tend to like whatever is most current as opposed to previous work:

Edits: geez...freakin' typos...

05 May 2006, 03:49 PM
Think this one had the topic "dying hurts"

05 May 2006, 04:01 PM
Here is my best one so far

05 May 2006, 04:09 PM
Hmm, maybe these two:

05 May 2006, 04:17 PM
DSG 625 Tarot : The Fool

05 May 2006, 04:34 PM
I'm far from the level of most people who are posting here, but I think my best one is this one:

Full size:
The topic was men in black.
Take care, Roberto.

05 May 2006, 04:42 PM

Why does there seem to be so much desparation, Roberto?

05 May 2006, 04:57 PM

Hmm.. I like this too (from the seven page horror story):

05 May 2006, 05:07 PM

It takes me 2hours and half, it was only sketch of the day :)

05 May 2006, 05:18 PM
Keep them coming.

And btw guys, I never said this before, but you guys are the hightlight of my day.

05 May 2006, 05:28 PM
I hope you're not having to justify why you should keep the DSG going?!?!

659 Road Trip

669 Race Car

05 May 2006, 05:44 PM
Of course we're all dying of curiosity WHY such a thread exists today, but we're all of course very patient people... *cough*

Cool to see everyone's personal favourite in any case.

05 May 2006, 05:48 PM
Its a joy to see so much diversity and character in all these works.

Only participated about 20 times so far, choosing was easy, it is Merlin, from last weeks Arthurean Legend sketches.

05 May 2006, 05:55 PM
I always liked this one, possibly because I finished at 3:00am...

05 May 2006, 06:26 PM
here is mine .. Hope it helps

05 May 2006, 06:44 PM
Sorry for breaking the fourth wall and being unprofessional.
Lets just say I am not having a good day.

05 May 2006, 06:56 PM
I know I haven't posted in ages, but i still lurk. And since it seems to be matter of life and death, who I am to not contribute. This is one of my favorites. It's from topic number 28 (no, that's not a WAS that long ago). 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Hope I was of some help!

05 May 2006, 07:16 PM
Probably one of these two..
"Cthulhu: The children's series" (

"Join the DSG" propaganda" (

Hello btw, not been in here for ages :)

05 May 2006, 07:36 PM
I don't mind what's the reason for this thread, I like it!

this one was for #241: "where are they now?: The muppets", I'm not sure if it's the best of mine... at least it was the sketch of that day

and here are some others, more in my usual style:
monster under my bed (236) (
frankenstein (493) (
first date (257) (
(I can't choose!)

have a nice day you all, and specially Roberto... thanks for everything you do for the DSG!
btw.... I've been wondering...have you really been 707 days without taking vacations or something? or does someone post the topics in your name if you're not there? excuse my curiosity :P

05 May 2006, 07:38 PM

loved to do this overlay scribble sketch for 439 - "twins"

and this rough one for 458 - "dark water"

05 May 2006, 08:48 PM

05 May 2006, 09:32 PM
Hi Guys,

damn it's been so long since I posted, been working like crazy & just been too tired to participate but I do miss having a go. Couple of my efforts from ages ago....

I'll be back at somepoint.

05 May 2006, 09:54 PM
Let's all give Roberto a big cheer , he's had a BAD day apparently...

Hurray for Roberto! :applause:

Thanks for all the work you do for the DSG!

05 May 2006, 10:05 PM
Hoooraaaaaaaaaaay Roberto :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

05 May 2006, 10:06 PM
Thanks guys,
To be fair this is a thread I have been wanting to do for a while.
Great entries so far.

05 May 2006, 10:06 PM
*cheer cheer* Would chocolate help?

05 May 2006, 10:17 PM
Hard to pick, some I just like better, while some were technically better. And fancy text work!

Roberto, none of this art on this post would exist w/o you! You rock, if you ever need a kidney or something, let us know.

I'm Just Hoping the " Worst Of " post isn't tomorrow.

05 May 2006, 10:18 PM
These are some amazing entries - it's cheering me up too!

I am sorry you are having a bad day :( I'm a woman, so I doubt my methods of getting back in a good mood would help -- but... umm... good luck :)

05 May 2006, 10:27 PM

That was "stronghold". Not the best.. but amused me to no end.
Monster under the bed. Posting fairly old art because I had hosting back then and I'm just waiting for that website to roll over and die.

05 May 2006, 10:35 PM
Cheers Roberto. :) Could always play some videogames to steam off, large scale manslaughter in ones safe corner can sometimes be very gratifying.

05 May 2006, 10:36 PM
Well i'm new here to both cgtalk and tha sketch contest so i dunt have mutch...but this one is my favorite so far...

"They only come out at night"

Is there a specific reason your asking us to post these up?

I hope you feel better.

05 May 2006, 10:45 PM

ten characters :)

05 May 2006, 10:45 PM
I don't have much time to sketch those days, but I can at least find the time to post old ones ^^ Even more if you seem to need it.
SoD 593 - "September"
SoD 596 - "My Favorite Holiday"

Couldn't chose between those 2 ^^

05 May 2006, 01:45 AM
Here's my sketch :)

05 May 2006, 02:16 AM
Well, here are mine: dragon slayer and ganster monkey

05 May 2006, 02:53 AM
I haven't been a long time contributer to the daily sketch threads- here's one from 705: 'When I grow up I want to be a...'

...little taller.

Currently in the process of turning this one into a finished piece, on the advice of my wife Sandra, who likes it because it's different to what I normally do.

05 May 2006, 04:33 AM
I always seem to like the sketches I've done recently better, and my favourite invaribly changes with my mood. Anyway

Nostalgia, 2hr / GIMP

05 May 2006, 07:57 AM
Heheh, look who I've found in some corner of my HD... It's Kirt :D

And a very old one...

Alice... you just can't leave it alone, can't you?

05 May 2006, 12:19 PM
HEy Roberto,

sorry I did not see this earlier, but if you need a cheer just yell.

Hoorray for Roberto!

"ferry to the dark lands"
"the small ones make for better eating"

05 May 2006, 12:34 PM
I guess that's my best one:

05 May 2006, 02:27 PM
Its an older one, and i even feel some of newer ones could be better. But I think this one has more emotion--can still remember how it felt to paint it.

05 May 2006, 03:18 PM

05 May 2006, 03:33 PM
I haven't participated in the DSG for ages, I should make a little time every day and be part of it again cause it's great practise and...I kinda miss you guys :D

05 May 2006, 04:40 PM
Here are some I like.....

05 May 2006, 04:52 PM
Sorry for breaking the fourth wall and being unprofessional.
Lets just say I am not having a good day.

Roberto - sorry to hear your having a bad day.

You say DSG is the highlight of your day - I think I can speak for all in saying that this great forum is a real highlight in our day as well (even if we don't alway have the time to post - hey -some days can be just NUTS!).

Thanks for all of the hard work you have put into it!!! :)

05 May 2006, 05:55 PM

06 June 2006, 03:40 AM
hi sumthing i did in my free time ....

06 June 2006, 09:47 PM
Faceoff: I like the way you put that beard down, and the nice wrinkles! Even this whole thread is amazing and veery inspiring! :)

My thingy:

'She's Dangerous'

Reason to be 'a bit proud of it', is that it was the first time shading went in a natural way. Before I always used a mirror, and tried to find the best shading in that way, but this time it went with lots more fun (more natural, automatically finding the right shapes)!

06 June 2006, 03:31 AM
Dutchman : hey thnks a lot man ...much appriciated ...:D ....n yeah i agree....there's sum really amazing stuff i'm seeing on this thread ....

06 June 2006, 08:06 PM
I think this is a toughie, but I'm pretty sure I got some votes on these 2 - never have gotten a daily sketch win, though! :(

I did this image thinking about lately I've only focused on drawing cute stuff, but now that I feel like doing more scary stuff it just gets weird :)
This image took me maybe 1 hour or so.... I was drinking my morning coffee.

I am very new to this society, I still don't know if I'm posting this in the right place or even if my image was included now so...errm... I hope it works.

You guys have some really great stuff here, honoured to be able to look at your artworks.

I especially like fast scetches of buildings where the focus is on light and shadow rather than structure....

02 February 2007, 10:38 AM
Black coffee....
This is a tribute to the true gypsy passion...
Im so fond of black coffee that the moment I got to know about gypsy culture..this was the first thing that crossed my mind..
Im scrapping the old idol of the gypsy woman with the crystal ball...this one is a young damsel..and her passion is reflected all around..and much more lies undiscovered in the hot coffee mug!!
Coffee does a lot of magic magic... Take a sip and remain enchanted forever................
23 minutes for the entire concept...The basics were roughed in my old sketch.

02 February 2007, 11:20 AM

#69 "steam driven flight" - this was my very first participation on the dsf back in 2004, before this sketch i was kind of a longtime lurker... so this pic has an great personal value to me and i still love the colors and the child-book-flair...

#112 "shark attack" - i think this was exeptional a really good idea i had to an dsf topic... i always wanted to do an high-res version of this one, but my laziness foiled the plans...:)

a trillion big thanks to roberto for running this wonderful forum tireless and keeping it alive... it's always a great pleasure to do a daily sketch!

so keep the doodles coming...
best wishes

Man, some of the things called sketches here are way more than that to me. (well and others aren't :) ) I'll contribute if I come up with something but generally don't do a lot of sketching in any medium. (Of course some of my finished pieces might be considered "sketches" based on some of the ones posted. :) ).

06 June 2009, 02:37 PM
Here is one :)

Here's mine! (

He's an archer of an ancient and profound, yet very lifeful, forest. The Green Bulbs Forest.
His tribe are the keepers of the foret's bulbs. Each bulb contains a soul of a living plant.

His morpholy makes him a pretty tough fighter, although he's ranged type. He shoots not really fast, but he can pierce a tree with an arrow...!
His bow has an eye to increase the shooting accuracy, and detect the hiding assasins. It can also scan the heart of anyone and feel if you are friend of the Forest...or not!

03 March 2010, 03:02 PM

06 June 2011, 07:15 PM
This is something that I sketched this week. I was thinking about all those people I know who are always talking but are never really saying anything.

07 July 2011, 10:19 PM
This is only my third attempt at drawing with a pen tablet, though I've been drawing and painting for over 50 years. I supported my horses doing portraits of other people's horses, and the other horses' people. I am grateful to the fantasy industry for giving me an outlet for my realistic style.

03 March 2012, 03:36 AM
My favorite from my sketches is the latest one I drew. I learn more and more as I do these sketches. It forces me to learn new techniques and more of a specific area, instead of just boring myself to death with one subject. Thank you so much for doing this for us.

03 March 2012, 02:12 PM

How do i get to join these challenges??how do i know which is active?and whats up with this 40min time line?

I've only just returned to this after a three year hiatus, but here is how it works.

In the title of each topic is a number, that number tells you how new it is, and the time given is how long you spend on it, or at which point you post your progress. I generally stick to the last seven topics when I miss them, unless there is a specific topic that really grabs my attention.

Happy sketching!
