the Hunterian Museum in London is a great resource for studying anatomy. It's free and it is open everyday except Sundays and Mondays. Not for the squeamish, but really good.
There's also a room with an educational skeleton where you can sit down and draw, paper and pencils are provided.
Just wanted to let you know :)

Thank you so much!!!
OMG, what an invaluable resource, and I had no idea it existed!
The virtual tours are great, but the real gem of the website is SurgiCat:
The SurgiCat Search Page (http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/search.aspx)
It allows you to search the museum database, I tested it and ran a search for 'skeleton', and retrieved this:
I mean, you can probably find whatever you want in terms of skeletal reference!
You can zoom in and click through a set of related pictures:
Thanks so much, I'll add this to the Anatomy Reference (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=257570) thread right away. :)
EDIT: Ok, I've added this link to a new subheading 'Museums', here (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=2453372&postcount=2).

Welcome! :) It was great for me to learn about this museum, it seems such an amazing treasure trove for anyone interested in anatomy! If you go and are allowed to take pictures, please post them here. :)
Looking forward to seeing your work on the forum! Lovely work on your website btw!

May take a while to get up to date with how to post work etc but it would be a pleasure to join in and put some images online ;-)

For image posting, I recommend using the free image hosting service, Image Shack:
There is a Tutorial that describes how to host / post images using another free image host, Photobucket, but they are enforcing a no nudity rule, so it may be better to go with Image Shack. However, if you are posting non nude images (such as Portraits, etc.) then I think Photobucket is a great option:

for the images from the Hunterian Museum, unfortunately they have avery strict policy and photography is not allowed. It's a pity, as tehy have things like the skeleton of a giant (the fellow was more than 2 metres tall) and endless interesting items. Also an amazing resource, using the due respect to this objects that are human, for anyone interested in anatomy also to design monstruos features. In fact, the Museum has many items belonging to people with severe deformities, the skulls are especially interesting.
It's not a freak show, anyway, and although not for the squeamish, it's an amazing resource for artists and doctors alike.
