Hi I'm pretty new at posting iv'e been using 3ds max for a few years now and i have a question in animation. I am trying to create a animation for my portfolio involving a motorcycle growing out of the ground. Parts of it will unfold like the armor of the batmobile in the first movie but the part i am stuck on is having an object start invisable and Grow or Reveal itself from one end to the other. The object is already textured in two types of procedural chrome applied to the mesh with uvw's then combined to edit poly again so how ever this can work there is a clean slate i guess. Any suggestion is a good suggestion i always say so please post what you think. It can be modifier or texture based solution as long as it works. Well thx for any Help you can provide. Here are some pics to show you what ive already tried. The top pic is what its textured like. The bottom pics are the type of animation im trying to create. The pipe was textured with a half black and white rectangle in both the diffuse + opacity slots. I animated the uvw map on the object with planer across the object thus revealing it. I wasnt able to figure out how to retain the already textured pipe and this transparency map over it. Well i hope this helped get you all started and i cant wait to hear from you.
