View Full Version : help with creating icons

01 January 2003, 01:51 AM

For a project i need to create a custom set of aqua style icons. I am limited to a maximum size of 48x48 pixels. I've tried making a few mock-ups just to get the technique down, but i cant get them to look as crisp or clear as i would like. I suspect its just a lot of pixel pushing, but any tips would be really helpful.

For example are there any tricks with the way the canvas is set up, etc...colours to use, methods...just anything that could be helpful? I may post a few of my mockups/attempts later...

Ive seen a lot of really good icons on the net, eg and ANY advice or tips on how to achieve similar results would be most helpful.

(sorry i know my question is kind of vague...)

It would be good if you could post your attempts please. I can't really help otherwise.

Are you working larger then shrinking down to finish off? Because thats usually why icons look nice a detailed. The same applies for a lot of imagery.
