Let's start this one with a small sketch I did while playing with PS brushes and taking a break from finals work.
I'm doing a self-portrait once a week project, so I'll post those here from now on. Right now I have an oil painting in the works for that.

A while back a friend and I were talking about monsters we'd made for our RPG sessions. He mentioned a tribe of African Goblins that rode around on Zebras. Well today another friend handed me a stack of national geographics today with zebras on the cover, and I needed to make something for a gallery show. This is what followed.
First color pass with some face detailing. In the final version the black lines won't be kept.

A little more progress and the color scheme is set. Need to do cleanup on the goblin and finish detailing the zebra. Then on to the background.

hehe, that's cute.
I also like your black and white, it's so serene, and evil...

Oil on Canvas
I'm disapointed in myself with this one. Spent more time fussing with the paint and my draftsmanship suffered. Still, not too bad for my first oil portrait.
Over this summer I'm focusing on traditional drawing skills, setting down the digital pen and drawing only on paper or painting with oils acrylics. The main focus being to get my draftsmanship skills up to a respectable level so I can start making portfolio pieces.

I absolutely love the black & white tree picture. The sketchyness of the tree is really nice.
The goblin one looks cool so far, too.

My previous links are down due to a big site redo, I'll update them when I have time. I'll be resuming my self portraits once this summer cartooning class is over. The schedule this instructor has us on is quite realistic.
For now, here's the model sheet for a Goth Orca named Ophelia.
