View Full Version : Realtime Camera View as shader?

05 May 2006, 06:03 AM
Is it possible to have a shader (or something else?) that shows what a camera is seeing?

For example,
A TV in the living room shows what a security camera outside is seeing,
a man comes to the door, and the camera see's him, displaying it on the screen.

Thanks in advance for any replies =)

Not sure about a shader, but that'd be pretty easy to render out and composite together. You could assign a material to your tv screen, and then map your render onto that. With the FxTree, you could also add some tv noise on top of your footage and plug that composite back into the ToClip node.

I think a shader that does exactly this was poisted a while back on the mailing list.

yes, this was written by Halfdan after a discussion on the list about a similar thing in Lightwave.
