View Full Version : rigging deformation

I am trying to rig a character but due to being a complete rookie with maya am finding it extremely difficult. I binded the model to the skelton using a smooth bind but am getting deformations on the arms and on his hips and ass. Can anyone give me any advice on how to remedy this. Was unsure but is it also more difficult to rig characters if they are packing some weight.

Hard to say where skinning went wrong. I suggest you take a look at sticky at this forum:

Ah, the next step after you smooth bind a character like that is to start painting weights to fix the trouble areas. Check out the help docs under 'Smooth skinning' and the 'paint weights tool'.
