04-24-2006, 02:03 PM
"first day on the job"

These are the rules:
* You have 25, (count them 25!) minutes to do your sketch. IF you go beyond the
assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has
expired, along with the FINAL drawing.
* Also, I will add a new voting category, called THE FASTEST DRAW.
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

uh.... TODAY was my first day at my new job... not really a hard job, I'm just opening a lab at my university for some students who need extra lab-time... but it's my first paying job...

...and it doesn't make any good to my lack of participation in the DSG, hehehe, I'm missing this place!

04-24-2006, 06:29 PM
Really stupid idea, I know :->
Photoshop, 20min :)

04-24-2006, 06:47 PM

04-24-2006, 09:23 PM
Its my visual expression of when you head off to work in a job that you find completely mind-numbing, whether its the first day or the last day.

25mins, PS & Wacom.

04-24-2006, 09:33 PM
Her0d: That's just completely brilliant! I laughed myself half to death :D
I had to finish before I was happy with this, it still looks kind of lacking in...well, anything good.

photoshop, 25 minutes

Great images everyone! Herod, if I hadn't had stiches taken out earlier you would have made me pop them out! Wicked sense of humor lol!!

I knew I had to try when I saw the subject used :)

What am I doing wrong? I hope I am linking this right, I cannot find the thread again about using photobucket. if I'm not logged in, I can see all the images loading down the page. If I am logged on, I have to click the link to see them.

One day I will be able to put down exactly what I see!

27 mins PS7

04-24-2006, 10:18 PM
Are you trying to get your image to show up in the thread? Try surrounding your image link with ...

Not sure why you have to click links though, hmmm.

04-24-2006, 10:28 PM
Herod...Lol! Good one, man!

Here's mine- 20 mins, PS.

The caption, in case you can't read it, is:

'She's a dancer, you idiot.'

04-24-2006, 10:52 PM
Paperclip, did you intentionally give that woman two right feet?

04-24-2006, 10:53 PM
I meant for it to be two left feet, hence the joke.....but I messed up.

04-24-2006, 11:04 PM
paperclip: try flipping the image ;)

looks almost cooler that way i reckon too ...

04-24-2006, 11:10 PM

Better? :D

04-24-2006, 11:12 PM
One can only get so far with these things... nice to be getting practice again though.

04-24-2006, 11:47 PM
I meant for it to be two left feet, hence the joke.....but I messed up.
Well two LEFT feet means you're clumsy and uncoordinated. So perhaps two right feet make her a coordinated dancer. By the way, just for clarification - this is an operation gone horribly wrong, right?

04-25-2006, 12:10 AM
Vizon: Yup, that's it! The idea is that it's the assistant's first day and he brought a left leg by mistake, giving her two left feet. This is made worse by the fact that she's a dancer.

Ho! Ho!

04-25-2006, 12:45 AM
Hahahahahahaha! That's hilarious! Especially that the feet are snow gloves. Where did you get that? Man, I'm getting behind on my sketches...Good to see you participating, Paperclip.

04-25-2006, 01:30 AM
25 min in Painter 9 (should have gone for a simpler camera angle!)

04-25-2006, 03:00 AM
paperclip: nice work! I like the lighting and I love their puzzeled expressions:)

Here's mine...25min painter

04-25-2006, 08:33 AM
Hahah, I'm glad that someone enjoyed my pic :) (i was pretty sure that the idea was too... well - too wicked to be funny to anyone :) Anyway, i've put some more (30min) work to it: link (http://herod.webd.pl/dsg/fjob_hr.jpg). (Yeah, the mix of white specular light and black interior was not the best idea ever :/)

04-25-2006, 10:58 AM
Her0d - lmao! :scream: nice second version, too!

I must say the cangaroo nearly gave me a heart attack...:scream:

But to your sketch: really nice lighting on the two characters!

04-25-2006, 12:24 PM
Really pressed for time.... :)

Max and photoshop .. 5 mins...

04-25-2006, 12:32 PM
kaylon- lol
Paperclip-Haha, Surgery went very wrong :scream:

04-25-2006, 06:00 PM
It is clear that he cutted his own arms while making meat for the customer? Photoshop 20-25 min. I wish I could choose the good skin colours as Paperclip, they are so real! But first I want to learn the basics of Photoshop :P

04-25-2006, 08:33 PM
