All right, I've got some of the forms basically blocked out, and I got started on the face. The hand is just a generic hand that I already had modeled... I'm just using it as a placeholder. Obviously I'll be removing it and modeling the hands from scratch. Ultimately I'd like to texture the whole thing as well, but I know I won't be able to get that far before the deadline, so for the purposes of this competition I'll just be modeling.

Here's my first shot at modeling the face. Still working on it, just thought I'd post an update.

your jaw needs to be little wider
lips could be smaller and the eyes
watch the height proportions of the nose to the eyes and lips

I think you're doing a great job. I know the head is going to be very hard for me to do, so I admire your work, it's good.

Here's a couple of updates:
So far I'd estimate that I've put in somewhere around 20 hours (I know I'm really slow, but the whole point of this is to learn and improve, right?)
fx81 - Thanks for the comments and the encouragement. I fixed up most of the things you mentioned, but it still doesn't look quite right... I'll post a another face update soon.
binder - Thanks a lot for the vote of confidence.
All right, enough yacking from me.... I'm off to work on the face and make some hands....
