hey guys here's a great matte painting contest, where you can win the new imac pc, thanks to the guys of www.pluginz.com (http://www.pluginz.com) for doing this

hey guys here's a portion of mine , ( I don't like too much square compositions so I did a little crop here hehe ) , I'm won't be able to work in more versions , but I hope I can get something hehe, share yours and we all will give some tips

great composition and concept jamesvfx!!! It´s definitely one of the best entries...
I like also the idea to post our images here for crit...
So here´s mine. It´s my first matte ever, so any help would be great...
Can we also post our forthcoming images here before submitting them to plugins.com?

thanks for reply elnady, I already submitted this image, so I can´t reedit it... But you´re right with your tip... I´m going to post a new wip the next time and try to keep that in mind...

thanks for your commest ,I hope I win something hehetrialanderror (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=215534) vbmenu_register("postmenu_3486100", true); : the idea is good but I see some problems here, the water may be a little off in perspective, cause of the waves scale
the little boat with those fisher men look bad in his cut and perspective as well , when you are doing a matte painting you are putting together a lot of elements 3d, 2d phtos etc, you have to have a really good integration in order to do a nice composite, always take care of the black and white levels, for instance in your image you have a big rock in the foreground, its black levels are to low compared to the background , all the things in the foreground will always look darker and more color saturated, and the further the less saturated look , less contrast, and brighter dark levels, overall it is a great start , try having som brighter side in the sky as well, it is too flat , and I see some bright reflections in the water

thanks jamesvfx, you´re as always very helpful and encouraging, I´m already working on a new one, trying to avoid the mistakes I made but I have no result at the moment, so I´ll try to post as soon as I can...

i thought i would enter this comp also so here is what i have so Far - its only a base.. trying to set mood and composition so any crist would be great

I´ve made a new matte for the contest and would like to know what you think of it? I´ve made lots of handpainting this time like the right side of the sky and image manipulation...
