View Full Version : Playground - WIP. Please critic!

Here is a picture that I started today.
Please critic while I'm still working on it (actually I'm going to sleep.. hopefully will continue working on it tomorrow).

Proportions ?
Composition ?
Colors ?
Overall stylistical balance (I do realise that boy and girl are done in a somewhat different style graphically... do you find it somewhat disturbing?)
And do you think the girl should be looking at the sand castle or this would be too much ?

I think the girl needs to be looking at the sand castle, engaging with it. There is no relationship with the objects right now, no story with the characters. You need to match up the styles to make it balaced. And make the sands colors fade into a darker and less intense yellow to give it depth. The characters are nice, the girls face is great, why is she wearing a jumper to the beach? Its an intresting perspective, it makes me tilt my head. Good work, ill watch this.

The girls eyes should be concetrated on her work :wip:..... now that she is just starring somewhere, she looks kinda retarded to me :argh:

other than that i think it will look excellent when finished

PS: the boy looks evil like a sand castle deytroyer

I agree with miguelslo; make her eyes look at what she's doing, and the whole picture will change for the better =)

It looks a lot better, better engagment. And that boy in the background looks really angry. The fingers on the hand in front could be a little longer, they look a bit stubby. The style works really well, child like and innocent.
