Welcome to SPOTLIGHT: Best of the Artistic Anatomy & Figurative Art Forum -
Year 1!

>>Links to all SPOTLIGHT Forum Threads<< (

CGTalk's Anatomy Forum is nearly a year old and I thought it only appropriate that some of the best work on the forum be showcased for the larger CGTalk community.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Forum, the recently revamped structure now looks like this:

Artistic Anatomy and Figurative Art (

SPOTLIGHT: Best of the Artistic Anatomy and Figurative Art Forum (
Tutorials and Workshops (
Personal Anatomy & Sketchbook Threads (
General Topics (
Concepts, References, and Resources (

CGTalk's Anatomy Forum has grown from the first three free Anatomy Reviews in June 2005 to it's own sub~forum under WIP/Critique: 2D, Illustrations and Concept Art. Now, thanks to the hard work and participation of CGTalk's active members, the Anatomy Forum has come into it's own and earned a place on the front page of CGTalk with it's own sub~forums, one of which is the SPOTLIGHT Forum, which is designed exclusively to showcase the best work which has been created on or posted to the Anatomy Forum.

In an effort to keep the SPOTLIGHT threads clean, I have closed the SPOTLIGHT threads for posting. I invite everyone to look at the SPOTLIGHT Forum threads and to kindly post their comments regarding artists' work here.

Please post to this thread:

>Compliments, comments, constructive feedback about SPOTLIGHT images for the artists
>Suggestions for the SPOTLIGHT forum
>Please also report broken links here.

Thank you, and congratulations to all of the SPOTLIGHT artists and to everyone who has helped make the first year of the Anatomy Forum a success!

04 April 2006, 07:58 PM
By the way, if I have accidentally missed you and you feel that your work deserves the SPOTLIGHT, please let me know! Also, there is more on the way, but likely not til next week.

Cheers, :)

04 April 2006, 12:37 AM
Rebecca you did a wonderful job, your hard work shows.:applause: Thank you. :)

04 April 2006, 06:17 AM
I would just like to say that you did an awesome job on this part of the anatomy forum, and I would like to thank you for putting a couple of my images up, I guess I will have to practice hard now, so I can get more up there ;) :D
Keep it up!

04 April 2006, 10:46 AM

04 April 2006, 06:55 PM
Thanks Rebeccak :) for the concept art spot light

This summer ill have more time for sure to put some projects and even have time to be a part of that fourm yet again I miss it.

04 April 2006, 07:31 PM
That's an awesome idea - summing it all up beautifully!

04 April 2006, 07:31 PM
Thanks for the spotlight Rebecca!!! Wow, that's so cool. :bounce:

Did you forget the shading practices though? I thought there was a series of those as well, or just 3? well at least my skull was cooler than my ortho imo lol. cheers, gonna edit this out, bloody embarassing.

04 April 2006, 07:35 PM
It's great to see such a nice response! Thanks everyone! :)

EDIT: I decided it would be a shame not to SPOTLIGHT the Anatomy Review 003, in which a lot of great work was produced. It can be seen here:

SPOTLIGHT: Best of Anatomy Review 003: Shading Tutorial and Human Skull Exercise (

Anatomy Reviews 001 and 002 were less cohesive due to the fact that folks were working from their own reference, so I've decided not to SPOTLIGHT that work ~ however, the threads of course remain open for browsing, and the hard work put into the threads by it's participants is very much appreciated. :)

04 April 2006, 07:40 PM
Oh I see, frankly I'm amazed you found time to put this together!!! You're doing such great things for this forum. I prolly wouldn't even have learnt to paint if not for your efforts. Plus I get to post this in my 4000 st post... YAY!!!

Great work! And great work in the those threads. I'll be rbowsing for hours. :)

04 April 2006, 07:41 PM
Wow Rebecca! Great job!
And weve done well, us members :) Amazing work, and in such a short time. Imagine the amount of inspiration we will find here after a couple of years! And Im pretty sure that in the future when "digital painting" art is getting the public acceptance and admiration it deserves, we will see painters and illustrators from our fine forum out on the "big walls". And we can say - "we knew them when they were young and struggling" :bounce:

04 April 2006, 07:58 PM
WOW! The Artistic Anatomy & Figurative Art Forum has made a spectacular addition to CGtalk! Thank you Rebecca!:scream:

04 April 2006, 08:09 PM
Heh, it makes sense to SPOTLIGHT the Anatomy Review work as well.

I've added this to the Links:

SPOTLIGHT: Best of Anatomy Review 003: Shading Tutorial and Human Skull Exercise (

It's a WIP. Should be finished soon.

EDIT: It's up and running. :)

04 April 2006, 08:11 PM

Good Job Becca.

Helens, Glenn, Samanthie, ceresz, Richa, RO, Intervain, jmBoekestein, Tyr, SaraD, rblitz7, depleteD, Zephyri, francescaluce, digital_embryo, Dave, and Roberto,

Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comments and feedback. I know it's a bit odd not to be able to reply to individual threads, but I think this will just make things much more streamlined and peoples' browsing experiences that much more enjoyable. After all, it's the artwork on display, and it's great to be able to see stuff quickly.

This thread is really about the folks that put the Anatomy Forum on the map, so I'm really grateful to everyone who has contributed their time, thoughts, and work to the forum. I've listed those who have contributed tutorials over the past year in the Links to all OFDW SPOTLIGHT Threads ( thread, and I am deeply grateful for their support.

This has been just an amazing year and I'm thrilled to see the great work that's popped up on the forum each morning. Thanks so much to everyone who has supported and contributed to the Anatomy Forum. I really look forward to another great year. :)

By the way, I really was unable to notify everyone whose work has been spotlighted here, but you should be able to find any spotlighted work by running a search for your username (or, in rare cases, your real name). If your work has not been included in the Spotlight forum, this by no means means that it never will be ~ this Forum will be constantly updated as new work appears on the forum. I'm very much excited to see what the next year will bring! :)

04 April 2006, 02:39 AM

04 April 2006, 05:01 AM
Don't suppose there's anyway you could turn that collage at the top of this thread into an imagemap? I see alot of images I like, but unfortunately don't have time to browse all over this forum to find them all :( I've looked through several already, though, and there is some great work here :)

04 April 2006, 07:02 AM
Astonishing job collating all of these images Rebecca; and many, many bows to the artists.

I'll revisit these threads many times.

04 April 2006, 03:40 PM

Thanks a lot! It's great to see you here, thank you for your great feedback! :)

Ha, thanks! Congrats on the SPOTLIGHT! Well deserved! :applause:

Thanks so much for your kinds words! I've still yet to go through the last half of the Sketchathon thread. It's been great to have your participation and support! :)

Hi there, I couldn't figure out a way to do an image map since CGTalk runs on VB code and I think image maps require html code...and I tried creating small jpgs for each image and linking, but then I exceeded the number of allowable images for a single post. :D Ah well, the long and short of it is, I labeled each image with a number, and provided links beneath the collage which will link to the thread the image is in if the image is in the first post, or to the direct post where possible. In some cases you may need to scroll down a bit to find the image, since images are grouped together in single posts.

So now you can link to individual images here ( Hope this helps! :)

04 April 2006, 03:56 PM
Just one kiss Rebecca-
Thanks you.

04 April 2006, 12:16 AM
