View Full Version : raytracing ON/OFF

Hi I wonder does the raytracing on off switch work in MR? If I turn it off it still renders with raytracing. MR is a raytracer so if I turn off it should not render anything right? this switch does make sense to me.

When Raytracing is on then MR will always use for primary, secondary and etc. rays

When Raytracing is off then for primary rays MR uses Scanline algorithm but as soon as this primary ray hits a reflective/refractive surface which will generate secondary ray then MR switches to Raytracing and continues the job in this mode

It seems a Maya bug or something yinako. I have some of this sometimes, turning off the Raytracing from Render Global won't force MR to not render some raytraced reflections in some cases.
