Latest Update: Modeling: pose model (

04 April 2006, 01:07 PM (

Hello everyone. It's my pleasure to join this season of challenge.

Since I need to reduce my production time, design and modeling are pretty much working it out

together. At the moment when I still haven't finalize my composition, I started to build from some

of the element which i've already designed and work it out on the way to complete my composition.

The following are the shorts of my work in progress.

04 April 2006, 01:09 PM
Sweet! I really like your concept art. The smaller images to the right are a little difficult to see. Maybe we can see some larger versions?

04 April 2006, 01:16 PM
Nice, vivid concept. Keep going!

Great work toongo, the modeling is very nice :D Are you using Maya for your entry? The concept work is also great, I'm loving it so far. Good luck on the competition :D

04 April 2006, 01:42 PM
Very nice model. And i love your drawings. The render looks alittle grainy, i believe is the GI setting need to tweak a little higher. But its not really that important. Modeling looks fantastic there.

Jedi-Juice: Thanks, now I am working on the bigger picture, at present I just want to draw what I am thinking in my mind, and I will continue to endeavor in my work and to perfect my concept design.

komsa: Thanks again!:) I will keep.

targus: Thanks too.The picture in bigger size will be finished in the coming days.

zhengbyby: Thanks for your putting your concentration, I will try me best.

Necksmasher: Yes, the model was made in maya application, the reason I made the bones is that there is a horse in my works. In order to fully understand the structure of a horse and which direction the muscles go in a horse body I made a comprehensive research and then made it carefully, I think it will give convenience to my latter work.

HapZungLam: Thanks my old friend.I will pay more attention to the problem happened, and make better works in the future.

I don't know anything about horse anatomy, so I can't give you any advice, but, I know that you really make a great job with this one, quite immpresive. looking forward to see how thi evolve.

04 April 2006, 04:23 PM
May i ask why your going to so much trouble to model all the underlying muscle and bone structure?

It looks good man, I don't know it it's anatomically correct or anything but it looks right to me.

04 April 2006, 04:57 PM
Ohh! Nice modeling, are you gonna use a skin plugin that uses those muscles or something?

I know it's a preview, but I don't think horses run like that... maybe seeing it as a skeleton tricks my mind :)

Anyways great work  !

04 April 2006, 08:50 PM
It Looks very fine ! nice one! thumbsup

04 April 2006, 09:14 PM

04 April 2006, 01:52 AM
great concept, great start!

Well done!

Good luck!!

04 April 2006, 01:55 AM
-BAM- :Thank you for your kindly focusing. About the evolving of the muscles, I do not plan to do it now. The purpose I made the muscles is to make clear how the muscles go, it will be a good reference for my latter real model. In spite of taking me great effort to work on these muscles, I still felt it is worthy.

Crin :Thx,The reason why I made so complex muscle structure is that I want to give a good reference for my real model period. I hope that I could be improved via attending this competition. So I read a lot of reference materials and try to make very spot brilliant and precise.

amz23 :thanks,I did not use any plug-in on the muscles, they were made under nurbs. Now I am still doing research on how is horse running like, if you have some materials would you please share with me.

niCer :thanks,I will try my best.

DaddyMack :thanks,Good luck.

Womgoose :yeah !I am crazy machine!

About the plugins I meant what are you gonna use to create the "envelope" (the actual skin, not the underlying muscles) of the horse, because as someone else already mentioned, we're wondering why you're puting so much effort in modeling the muscles ;) (now I see you're creating them for reference purpouses)

About the horse movements I'll look up something for you

Those who are about to render salute you!

04 April 2006, 06:06 AM
Really beautiful sketches! And the muscles look pretty good too. Although the bones in the lower legs look fused and it seems your missing muscles in the face and lower legs, as well as the trapezius (I guess that's what its called in the horse), the upper back triangular muscle. Is that a plugin for maya? It looks like the plugin they sell at the cgsociety store or are they modeled? I'm modelling muscles too for another project and I'm not sure how your doing the striations. Are they UV mapped?

I agree its really good to have an understanding of the muscles of the figure. It really helps with creating edge loops. Also old how to draw animal books are useful too. I really think that your extra work will pay off in the end. Good luck!

04 April 2006, 07:23 AM
Neat muscles, kept us informed where you are going with this. I hope you not over killing your concept. The best reference is real reference. goodluck, you horse's look cool.

04 April 2006, 07:47 AM
interesting approach man, you go to so much trouble to make it acurate. I feel it will be a very solid piece of work, keep it up! and nice muscles btw :)

04 April 2006, 09:07 AM
Its really nice design.

I feel it should look more powerful if the muscles on the neck of horse are more flexual.

Anyway, its a fantastic work!

04 April 2006, 11:26 AM
Womball :Thank you focusing. Not UV mapped. Just use shader ~Share it. Hope can help your:)

04 April 2006, 03:58 PM

Hello toongo! yor piece looks like have very details. Im alwais have fear to dip into things like bones structures and muscles. Some times im think that we can "dribble" thats stuffs walking on other paths. But i always feel that nothing works better that the kind of approach that you choose. I just would like to see more about the concept, because the performance its genial.

Good luck! and see you!

Good luck!

04 April 2006, 10:07 AM (

in recent days i was researching how are the muscles like when horse is running. it should be very complex. in order to setting a reference for the pose i will make in the future, i tried to lay the pose with some piece of muscles. and also i made some modification on some parts.i am going to use a great deal of Zbrush in the latter modeling period to make out the details which could be like real !

04 April 2006, 02:23 PM
Great job!

I'm waiting for the skin over the muscles.

04 April 2006, 04:27 PM
