I like your concept, feels great.
Good Luck!

04 April 2006, 02:35 AM the concept! I had a similar idea in mind but I just didn't know how to give it a story behind the image...if you know what I mean. Seems that you've succeeded in that area with your concept. Can't wait to see your progress. :)

04 April 2006, 10:41 PM
Thanks for the comments. I hope to have some cool 3d stuff soon

04 April 2006, 10:57 PM
yep, great concept , although i dunno how much of the cave you ought to see because you're losing important composition space with a rock

04 April 2006, 09:54 AM
That's a good point about the cave and I'll keep it in mind.

04 April 2006, 11:07 AM
oh and i got another ideea, how about bring in the cave opening some shore lines so that you can respect the thing about atmospheric haze ?

Here's the first character ruffed out. I've decided to model the 3 characters to this quality and then fine tune as I have time. In the end I expect to have more fine details etc.
Hope you like the style so far.

What a great concept. This one looks like it should turn out real nice.

04 April 2006, 10:31 PM
Yes indeed, very nice concept, and a nice start of the model, already defined his looks. Cant wait to see more

04 April 2006, 12:46 AM
There's a dragon!!
Your first model is really cool =]
I like the cartoon style you did..

04 April 2006, 08:52 AM
I Agree with the guys...great sketch and concept....the model is very good too...Good luck

04 April 2006, 05:13 AM
Thanks for all the comments and I do agree the ears are a bit big. I'm currently working on the female character and hope to have something worth critiquing this weekend.

Again thanks

This model is ready for some opinions.
At the moment the drapes are nothing more than planes and I have some detail plans for almost every part of her but I would love to read some of your ideas to help improve this character.
As for now I'm onto modeling the dragon!

04 April 2006, 01:12 PM (

I thought it might be nice to show a close up :)
I hope you like it

04 April 2006, 01:26 PM
congratulation, good work,

I love the old He-Man style

good modeling.

see ya

04 April 2006, 01:58 PM (

Well I've managed to pull together a ruff of my dragon character.
My plan is to ruff out everything including the environment pieces Then stage everything. Once I'm there I should be able to go back to the step of finishing the models in their poses. After that tweaking stage it will be on the textures!
P.S Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks

05 May 2006, 02:52 PM
Yes! Cool-looking dragon. :buttrock:

All poly-modeled? Or did you use displacements?

05 May 2006, 03:10 PM
great looking concept, and the modelling looks very professional too! keep it up! :)

05 May 2006, 03:26 AM
It's all poly modeling and thanks for the compliments. I intend to make some changes but firstly put the characters into poses.

05 May 2006, 12:51 AM (

I've just finished placing the characters into a ruff scene and created placeholder lighting. This would show a direction towards the finished layout.
Once I'm pleased with the final adjustments to the posing I will add the missing modeling touches and texture.
I'm thinking of changing the camera a little since I'm finding it a bit boring. Any thoughts?

05 May 2006, 11:40 AM (

I've posed the characters, made some final tweeks to their mesh and have now begun to play with some color and texture ideas.
I've also made a change to the camera fov to help create distance amongst the characters

05 May 2006, 11:30 PM (

I intend to keep revising the lighting and texturing until it's finished but here is an update.

05 May 2006, 11:43 PM (

This is the beginning of the post work.
I've rendered most elements seperatly to speed up the process.
I'll also continue to change colors etc during this compositing stage.
I hope everyone likes it so far :)

05 May 2006, 04:33 AM (

Well I'm almost finished. It's been fun playing with the scene in post.
I hope you like it

05 May 2006, 02:40 AM (

I'm finished. This was my first time participating and it was a blast.

The story I imagined for this piece:
A sorceress showing a boy the location where he needs to ride his young dragon and slay his enemy (who killed his father) with a magically imbued sword.
Of course this would be the beginning of a great journey.
