I haven't had too much time to work all the suggestions in, although I tried. I've had
some other projects at hand that have taken up a lot of my time. In any regard, tell
me what you think???
I am working on a matte for a short comp. experiment. The matte is of
a mosque. I would appreciate any suggestions or critiques of my
work. It is a WIP...

I think you didi a good job in color correcting the photo, but you need something else, , check out your 3d model, she has a rim light in the right side , maybe a rim light or higlights in all the structures would help , and would create a really nice volume, because I think it is too flat, I'm looking forward at this matte , cheers

That is a really good point. I will definitely add some rim light. Maybe
some light from a moon peaking through the clouds. Should I add the
moon peaking through a bit?
Also, does the 3D element (woman) integrate currently? It seems wierd
to me, but I've looked at it too long...

I don't know about the moon peaking from the clouds but it looks like moonlight try just adding the moon first, good work so far.

Despite the advice, I added a moon. I had to give some light source to create
the extra rim lighting. Any input or critique welcome...
I added some clouds animating across the sky as well...

I find it a bit odd how the snow is so bright in front of her face, but barely noticable anywhere else. Good work,

JIII, that is a good point about the snow, and I think I fixed the issue. It was an alpha
or transparency issue within the comp.. Hopefully I've fixed the issue, and it looks
Yeah fixed, next you should try putting a real girl's head in there :-).

hey it 's looking better but here are some points you have to take care
1: the rim light can be more intense
2: I don;t see snow in the domes , the architecture or on the trees. as acumulated in the ground
3: when you have a depth of field at night the lights don't look just blurred there is a effects in the lights that make them look brighter and with a hexagon or circle shape, this is because you have a focal node just in the foreground like this examples below

Great point jamesvfx. I think lighting effects are needed. Since this is an animation, the
halo effects should probably be added in as a 3D element or comp 2D trick. So they move
with the camera and react to lens changes. This is a good suggestion and will suggest moisture in
Good point on the rim lighting. Increasing the rim lighting will make the piece more dynamic.
I'm a bit busy with other things, but I will update you when I make the changes:)

Now that I think about it though, If it's snowing there probably should be more clouds, though it does seem to work in my eye so far.

Hey cool man,
two more things to do:
1.) The 3d-woman: I think it would look better if you turn down the saturation a bit ( its night and snowing)
2.) The snow-flakes: Probably it would look cool, if you add another layer with smaller snow-flakes in the back ( I would try to simply copy a layer, flip it horizontally and vertically, so that it doesn't looks the same as the original, turn the transparency down and adjust the size a bit)
Also it would look great if you add some non-regular fog in front of the palace...
