Well, it took 50 minutes instead of 45, but how could I be myself if I don't brake the rules?
(there are some layer overlapping mistakes. I'll fix them if I'll work further on this piece)
Just in case you were wondering, he's a dark magic teacher :p

Suprised I'm the first to take the subject as this , realized I don't know cursive anymore, so sad

03 March 2006, 09:33 PM
Good ideas guys!

For mine, I have tried to do the most geek teacher could exist, you know that kind of teacher that never gets the attention of the students :P

Poor guy, he looks so sky L

For another time I forgot to look a the clock… and take a bit too much time… maybe 50min - an hour… sorry for that

03 March 2006, 09:46 PM
maranello55- this is great, i love the colors you used!

I painted an old guy teaching chimps. After 45 minutes I realized I had no chimps in it yet, so I just whipped some up. I ended up going 5 minutes over. Hopefully next time I won't drag ass on unimportant things when i have these time limits!

I know the monkeys aren't any good, but I had to do them fast without refs.

03 March 2006, 10:35 PM
damnit trialanderror! you stole my idea! *shakes fist angrily*. Ah whatever, i dont have time...Yet again....

03 March 2006, 10:36 PM
@maranello55: I love your sketch:eek:

PAINTER IX : about 30min

03 March 2006, 11:20 PM (

03 March 2006, 11:33 PM

Welcome tempest, have fun here :D

This is my calculus teacher, and his catchphrase.
He's cool though. I'm so much of a math geek it's not even funny...

03 March 2006, 11:52 PM
Heh djtrousdale - we had the same thing in mind it seems :)
I jsut got it finished in 45, looked up at the clocl at 10 minutes, and then again at 38! Shocking how time can disappear when you're having fun :D

PS + Tablet

03 March 2006, 11:59 PM
Well it looks like the teacher is having a sick day. I was planning to have the teacher cowering from a torrent of spitwads, paper airplanes, and Chem books. Looks like I'll need another 45 min. for that - time really does get away from you with these timed ones.

ProCreate Painter Classic + Wacom + 45 min.

03 March 2006, 12:25 AM
GSmiley - classic haha :) i think i'd prefer the looseness of the monkeys adds to the chaos !
heres mine, 45mins and was suprised i finished! woop. pshop.wacom

03 March 2006, 12:26 AM
here´s another one,

took a bit longer but that´s first version I can show, hope you don´t mind Roberto, trying to learn facial expression...

that´s the wife of my teacher

mr. loco: hope that I didn´t have the same idea, again LOL

did it in photoshop, sorry for the poor line quality (don´t know bout 90 minutes)

03 March 2006, 01:02 AM
I always seem to not finnish the longer timed ones, like the 30 - 50 min. ones. So I did another one, but as fast as I could. Your typical gym teacher.

itsGuido, I really like the boat and it's reflection, both very convincing.

ProCreate Painter Classic + Wacom + 12 min.

03 March 2006, 01:11 AM
glad to be back here. Hi all :D :wavey:
the timelimits are a great idea ... i tried to paint as fast as possible hehe:

ps | 42 mins

03 March 2006, 02:02 AM
I don't know what it is, I just can't stop the DSG today! Anyways, I didn't see Vahn's untill I went to post this, so I didn't really "use" his idea... BTW I really like it Vahn, it's light and pretty.

Decided to go and use good old MS Paint for this one, the smoothness of nicer paint programs sometimes annoys me.
MS Paint + Wacom + 41 min.

03 March 2006, 03:49 AM

03 March 2006, 05:14 AM

45 minutes, Photoshop
struggled with this one, it was a color sketch at first, but it ended up going sepia tone...

03 March 2006, 06:54 AM
Wow, thanks, no1gashuffer. Greatly appreciated, I've gotten a wacom since last year, and started to try to apply lighting. I've got a long way to go before I can rock it out with the big names, but I'm trying.
Still think my greatest was Secret Lovers (, or My First Icecream (, classics, no wacom, but hey.

brunowerneck - Love the line work, and the tones work perfect
FridayEve - your style constantly awes me
Vahn - Welcome back
GSmiley - Where's the poo on the board? Can't go wrong with monkeys. EVER!
Maranello55 - Is she waering a shirt? Man, top mine with nudity

Everyone else, sorry I'm lazy but great stuff

03 March 2006, 07:20 AM
Wacom Tablet, ArtRage2/OpenCanvas/GIMP - just over 45 minutes (stopped drawing at 45 - then added title, resizing, and a ponytail total 55)

It has been awhile since my last post - working under a tighter time contraint is interesting.

GSmiley - the half-formed monkeys may work better than highly detailed one in this case. I am pretty sure I have taught classes like that!
overchord - great style! nice tie and jacket; and an intimidating chalkboard, to boot.
itsGuido - serene mood, palette is well chosen. thoughtful subject.
vahn - I like the colors and looseness on this. Are those real chinese characters, or random slashes in the clouds?
FridayEve - The characters are very strong. The hatched brush forms a nice compliment to the subject matter (1950's future robot vs etched quillwork)
Drone2222 - My favorite of the set you posted on this is the gym teacher; This looks like one of those scratch drawings where you scratch the top layers of wax/paint to show the color underneath.
brunowerek - the washed out tones actually work well for this sketch. You make a good choice in going with that. A teacher I would not want to cross.

03 March 2006, 07:45 AM
Got inspired to try another one. All same brush, much faster to keep it loose
45 min/photoshop/wacom

GauntMan - Good to see ya!

03 March 2006, 03:22 PM
Well this is mine.. only thing I could think of that I was able to draw..

03 March 2006, 03:57 PM
itsGuido, Vahn and brunowerek - very, very nice! My favourites so far.:D

I can't think of anything interesting.

03 March 2006, 08:23 PM
Ok guys
about 40 min >ps>wacom

03 March 2006, 08:42 PM
vahn fantastic, i think its finished. also like the sexy teacher must be a fetish ;P math teacher should **** off nothing but trouble and absolute useless in the age of computers, better have them teach programming instead.

03 March 2006, 01:19 AM
drone2222, Zyrinx, pipichu, ysvry : thx :D

Gauntman : hehe thx. yeah those are real ... altough i dont know what they mean :)

03 March 2006, 07:58 AM
Ahh! Sorry for my late entry.

For this particular theme, it makes me recall a little funny shit which happen twelve years ago, when I am in my remove class (a pre-secondary school class). My 1st English language teacher, Mr. Tung! He likes to poke 'those' people ass with his middle finger. Those who become his victim are likely those day dreamer and making a technical mistake when standing up reading a passage and etc... I still could remember the tension which I felt deeply for attending his classes; need to focus 100% in class for protecting the virginity of my ass. Anyway, at the age of nearly 55 that time, Mr. Tung is a very good runner in marathon. I still remember the event he beat all the young lads in the cross country run which held in school before he retired. His image of tall skinny figure and the sports wear which he put on in daily teaching still intact in my mind.

Below is a piece, which I remember the friend of my who got poke ‘deeply’. Hahaha, poor guy, I didn’t see that guy for nearly six years.

As usual, 18 mins pencil sketch + 15 mins in ps. I wish to hav more time to rework on the poking gesture and the expressions. It isn't strong enough.

p/s: Everyone here in cgtalk ds is so cool and inspiring! I love all ya works! I begin to get addicted in this ds activity.

03 March 2006, 08:26 AM
Thats say the least.

03 March 2006, 02:22 AM
It looks like the math teachers vs the mystics :D

another um "mystic"
painter approx 30 min
