12 December 2002, 11:58 AM
Well, here's my LOTR ring!
Rendred with Brazil r/s! and some tweak in Photoshop.
12 December 2002, 12:01 PM
yes, that look really good..
and if i think that you say thet you are a newbee.. this look even much more better..
simple object.. but good texture and lightning..
12 December 2002, 02:02 PM
yeah it's real nice!! Just 1 crit I think that the chain thingie (the chain true the ring) has to much reflection maybe a bit less and it's perfect!!! Good job :D
12 December 2002, 02:38 PM
That looks pretty cool :D
I just think that the gold needs to be a bit darker and richer :)
Also, the shape should be ever so slightly rounder, in terms of bulging a bit. The edges right now are rather flat.
Otherwise, a great pic

The only crits I have would be to 1) make the ring a little thicker. 2) The chain looks a little low poly and a bit too shiny. 3) Also, I'm not sure, but I thought the writing was only on the outside.
Looks great though. I LOVE the wood texture.
12 December 2002, 05:31 PM
yea i thought the writing was only on the outside as well... maybe the uv is wrong??? cause the txt on the inside reads back to front???
looks good tho, how long u been using max?
12 December 2002, 07:28 PM
Thanks for all the replay's guys!
cuse: Hmm, i don't know if there schould be text on the inside of the ring...? And i have been using 3Dsmax for about.. 9-10 month.
biffen: You think it schould be thicker?
Yeah, iknow the chain looks weird, i will fix it some day :)
12 December 2002, 08:24 PM
the chain trough the ring has to much reflection
I just think that the gold needs to be a bit darker and richer
1) make the ring a little thicker
Yea, also the ring looks a bit to thick on the inside/outside as in 'to oval shaped".
Otherwise,looking very nice indeed :)
I like the wood texture alot.
12 December 2002, 08:34 PM
main main beaf is the chain, it just looks wrong
12 December 2002, 08:48 PM
Simply decreese the reflection/refraction and it'll help. The chain is, as mentioned before, a bit to chromatic.
12 December 2002, 08:53 PM
I don;t know much about Brazil, looks like it is a very good software, could u tell us more about the experience u have with Brazil?
12 December 2002, 09:33 PM
very good stuff you have there. The chain is the only thing that could use any sigificant improvement.
12 December 2002, 11:40 PM
Thanks for all the replys!
Well, i made an update... hmm
12 December 2002, 12:13 AM
How do you make this metal aspect? because I'm working on a ring and I'm looking for this aspect
12 December 2002, 12:34 AM
the 2nd image looks MUCH better than the first....very good job mate.
one crit would be to loose the focus blur......it seems to be "scattered"?
what i mean is....part of the ring is focused, and another part isn't...
i say a clear image altogether would do the job!
12 December 2002, 03:14 AM
the second image is MUCH better!!!!! the chain now looks like it is part of the scene!!!!
12 December 2002, 08:29 AM
yeah man, 2:nd render is SO much better than the 1st one. good work. however, i would make the shadows a little bit stronger.. my oppinion, otherwise top work.
12 December 2002, 08:36 AM
nice stuff going on here. ummm probably just me and my absolutely wack perception excuse me little sleep but here i goes
a) top leftest fire writing looks to diffrent? to the rest
b) not sure if its me but did you blur the bottom half of the pic?
thats about it other than that  :applause:

i dont think you should change the shadows at all... also it looks like in the 2nd one all youve done is adjust the levels in ps?
12 December 2002, 10:40 PM
I might be on my own here, but i prefer the look of the first image.
The writing on the wring looks more authentic and the chain looks better imo, however, you would need to change how the links lie over the ring, looks like its floating.
Second image the chain is perfect, but i dont think the style of the links is suited to something as precious as the ring :)
anyway, thats my opinion, make of it what you will

Thanks for all the replys!!!
I see if a will fix a new pix!! But now it's x-mas so i don't have much time!!
Thanks one more time!

except the chain, fresh from the store and too contemporary if it has to fit in Tolkiens world,
12 December 2002, 09:32 PM
I like the ring, but I think that the chain must be golden and with smaller sections, according to the book.
And for the runes, graved into the ring, they are on both sides.
"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them" on the outside and
"One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."on the inside.
