View Full Version : CgTalk Daily Sketch 650 THE 20 MINUTE SKETCH: "St. Patrick's Day! "
03-17-2006, 02:13 PM
OK we are going to do AN EXPERIMENT for the next few days...
You have 20, (count them 20!) minutes to do your sketch. The idea is that at the end of those 20 minutes you have to post your sketch in whatever form it is.
So bring out your sketcbook, and your watch, ill be watching you!
The idea of this exercise is to build up speed m so you may post as many DIFFERENT sketches as you want.
And by the way, to keep people in their toes, I will vary the LENGHT of time.
"St. Patrick's Day! "
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.
These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.
PS To submit your topic ideas and suggestions go to this thread:

Well I'm not that familiar with St Patrick's Day, but for all I know it involves beer, greenness and sometimes gnomes, so I thought drowning a gnome in beer on a green background should do that holiday justice. ;)

Here's today's entry. "St. Paddy" on the bar was a complete "2 minutes left" invention and funny enough, he's my favourite part of the drawing.
See you next week,

It was bit of a challenge to come up with an image because I've got very little idea what St. Patrick's day stands for but it was fun throwing this thing together :) and this time actually had the alarm go off at the right time hehe

Awesome, The Branch!
True story. I totally forgot that today was St. Patrick's... Wearing all black wasn't that great of an idea, in retrospect. People kept telling me that "eyes don't count" all day.
And for those unfamiliar with the tradition, it's customary in America (don't know if this holds true anywhere else), if you don't wear green on St. Patty's Day, it is everyone's obligation to pinch you as much as they possibly can. =_=; This is probably worsened by the fact that I live in Dublin, California, and this city REALLY gets into the spirit.

Not much I can accomplish in 20 minutes. but well, that's the point of these excercises. So it'll get better eventually

This one took me almost 23 minutes, but that's because I accidentally deleted the layer with the words on it before I saved. So I did finnish within 20 minutes, but I had to redo some.
ProCreate Painter Classic + Wacom + 20 min.
