View Full Version : PS Portrait work - gettin my feet wet =)

Hey folks. As an observant eye may tell i'm brand spankin new around these parts. I've often looked to this community for inspiration for quite some time now, and must say that the work here is top notch.

Anywhoo, finally got off my lazy butt and registered so I may share a bit of my work with you all. Typically I work w/ 3d due to the type of work that i do for a living, however i've recently gotten back to 2d and playing around w/ some digi-painting. This here is the progress so far on my second portraiture attempt via photoshop. C&C are of course welcome and appreciated ;-). If interested, some other of mine as well as my wifes work can be seen at our website -> (

Well, just a little update. Will probably finish up the lips / teeth after the nose area, they're starting to bug me for some reason.

Have no crits (dont CG enough to), but writing to encourage you. The skin around the eyes and on the cheeks is already looking really good. Post more!

Havn't had a whole lot of time to work on this, as with most of my project (damn bills =/). Anyway, this is it's current state. It'll get finished eventually, though i'd be lying if I said it'd be soon.

Thanks for the encouragement, much appreciated ;-)

Hmm, well i thought i had posted this as well in another thread but apparently not. And since my posts can sometimes be very few & far between I'll just put this in here. This is my first attempt at organic modeling, a self portrait of sorts. I actually started this project about a year ago and it's been sitting about 25% done on my hd collecting dust. I'd picked it up for the sake of messing around with Z brush trying to figure things out, and decided I ought to go ahead and just try to finish the damn thing =p.

Anyway, here it is so far, still have an hour or two of vert tweaking to do.

Be gentle ;-)

*edit* - eh, srry I just realized this is the 2d forum section........when I have any other updates on this I'll repost in 3d. Heh <--n00b moment ;-)
