This is something I started up last month, partly inspired by work on this Anatomy and Figurative Art Forum, and partly by the Subway Sketch Groups elsewhere on these boards. I thought, why not get a few people together, split the cost of a model, and just draw.
Right now there are 4 of us, but we're looking for more. We meet every first and third Saturday each month, so this coming Saturday, the 18th of March, is our next meeting. It's a 3 hour session starting at Noon until 3:00 PM. We meet at my place, which is an apartment downtown. There are no fees or anything, we just all split the model's fee, which is $60.00 for the afternoon. We're looking to grow the group to about 6 or 7 people, to get the split down to $10 each.
It's an easygoing, friendly group. I was thinking if I could interest a couple of people from the boards here, we could start posting our exercises here in this thread.
To kick it off, here are a couple of recent sketches from me:
We generally begin the session with quick gestural sketches... no more than a minute or so, to loosen up and get a sense of flowing lines:
Then we move on to longer and longer poses, generally ending with three or so 20 minute sittings (the following are all 20 mins.):

If you're interested in seeing more of my figure work, there's some more in this thread:
(That's a single post link, but the post is actually at the end of the "Show us your best" sketchbook thread.)
I welcome any comments or criticisms you might have, and if you are in Los Angeles, and would like to draw with us this weekend, just let me know.
