View Full Version : Stormtrooper, Blasphemy3_d (3D)

12-17-2002, 10:05 AM (

HI Im JJ again.

I know that SW models are not very well rated but I made this one some time ago and want you to see it. Im thinking about compose a scene. SciFi 3D friends are doing interesting things with this guy.

Hope you like!!!

12-17-2002, 10:18 AM
Wow! Excellent work! Damn good job. I love Star Wars so you have my two thumbs up.

I'd like to see what you have in store for this bad boy.

12-17-2002, 10:22 AM
Excelent work! Perhaps you could make the troopers texture a little bit more dirtyer so it fits the texture of the gun.
I like it alot thou, good job!

12-17-2002, 10:47 AM
that is just in-frickin'-credible!!

several thumbs waaaay up!!

12-17-2002, 10:53 AM

12-17-2002, 11:16 AM
   :applause: :applause:

12-17-2002, 11:17 AM
now come on own up its a guy in a suit and you taken the background out??
No serisosly that is one lovely model, i dont think you have overlooked any of the detail. Really nice work indeed just like all your other star wars models.:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

12-17-2002, 11:57 AM

12-17-2002, 12:08 PM
WoW. this is totally amazing, I really love this. The white shader is absolutely perfect! no detail has been lost and you can see really nice subtle tones cast from the lighting. If this was motion captured they would proabably look nicer than the ST in the first Star Wars series! How was it modelled? and what program did u use? has a subtle texture been painted on the white? let us see the wires!

:D :D

12-17-2002, 01:07 PM
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAu! How long it takes to make such realistic and perfect image. What program do u use? Is there possible to make tutorial of it :)?

That is just totaly awesome... Are u working in ILM :)

12-17-2002, 02:25 PM
have to go with the guys above ;) definitely excellent modeling work. way to go !!!! :airguitar :buttrock: :applause:

12-17-2002, 02:48 PM

12-17-2002, 02:50 PM
Again, really impressive, what's not to like ?
Excelent work!!

12-17-2002, 02:54 PM

Just one word.. PHOTOREALISTIC... way to go!

Vray for rendering ?

12-17-2002, 03:12 PM
I have used not much V-ray. I started using it not much time ago.

This model was rendered with Final render. Now Im rendering with Brazil.

12-17-2002, 04:27 PM
Really good work, only mistake i noticed is that in the posed picture his legs are intersecting with his body...

12-17-2002, 05:21 PM
Hi again

If you want to see this guy in action check this link (

This test was done by the SciFi 3D guys. They made some modifications to the model so they can animate it. It looks great!!

12-17-2002, 06:05 PM
 :bounce: :scream: :airguitar

12-17-2002, 06:09 PM
wow! meant to reply to this post earlier but forgot! dont make him any dirtier like coCoKNIght suggested tho, cause theyre meant to be perfect like the 'comic book guy's' collection right???

great stuff...

12-17-2002, 06:18 PM
Well, perhaps I used the wrong word. But my opinion is that the parts of the suit where there is more detail should also have more detail on the texture. They should be a little bit more worn.
Anyway I like the model and the textures very much. Else I wouldn't post 'bout such a detail, now would I? ;)

12-17-2002, 06:22 PM

sorry if it sounded attacking, wasn't meant to be, would be nice to see some scratches on there more detail yes :)

12-17-2002, 06:28 PM
En serio... No te has planteado trabajar en cine??? ILM estaria bien, no? Es increible. Todos los detalles estan ahi... Modelo perfecto. Texturas...supongo que tambien.
Cuando he visto la imagen no me ha hecho falta mirar el nombre...Blasphemy3_d estaba cantado. :)

Amazing, as always. No crits from me.

12-17-2002, 06:34 PM
Thanks Faraway. you allways as kind.

Well, I agree with some people who say that the texture looks empty... this storm trooper is clean ... ʹm making the Sand troop and the texture of this second will be full of dirt, I promisse

Thanks for the comments. I like the agresive crits Cuse, dont worry about.

12-17-2002, 06:56 PM

Impressive, as usual, blasphemy3_d. All the details are there (como bien ha dicho Faraguay). Just perfect.
It's always great to see some of your work.

I was wondering where you found the model sheets/reference images for the stormtrooper... in case you've used any.

This is soooo good!

12-17-2002, 08:08 PM
Freakin awesome,
next time Mr. Lucas reworks Ep. 4-6 all over again he should use your models :)

Only crit: when you see that trooper from behind the knee and ellbow area looks "empty", but thats true to the original i guess. Ellbow looks strange ... tubelike.

Keep up that good work !!

12-17-2002, 08:45 PM
now, how 'bout some TIE pilots? They have cooler helmets;)

The Magic Pen
12-17-2002, 08:49 PM

I still find it hard to believe Dr Ropata is "the baddest bounty hunter in the SW galaxy".

You're not on Corusucant now, Dr Fett....

12-18-2002, 02:27 AM
Incredible! Dread to think how many times ive seen a storm trooper and yours makes me go wow!!!:bounce:

12-18-2002, 02:42 AM

I give this guys the model for a film theyre making. Check the site.

Thanks all again

12-18-2002, 07:39 AM
You my fravroite 3D SW artist.!

12-18-2002, 08:35 AM
I have changed my wallpaper.... :) :buttrock:

BTW: I think the mocap you have used in animation is not a good one (waveing his hand).... The hand opposite to the up one looks odd. Of course it`s not your fault :-) But you should consider using diffrent one or tweak it a litlle bit. Why? Beacause this movie is so funny ! and it should be more realistic... But this is only a sugestion. Great model!

12-18-2002, 08:37 AM
awesooooooome  Excellent work ;)

Gentle Fury
12-18-2002, 09:51 AM
looks just like the original PVC armour, great work!

12-18-2002, 11:12 AM
Why are you so good?
(nope, it's not a question)

Five stars for you. Should the "glasses" be darker? They seem too grey.

Great work,

12-18-2002, 11:51 AM
You have always done excellent work, nothing to crit here, if I didn't know any better I'd seriously think this was a genuine storm trooper :D Love the animation also

You have received your 2nd CGtalk choice award. Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! (as you did on your bug ;)) Congrats again, extremely well done, keep it up!

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame - when it becomes available

P.S. if you need a different background, please send me a PM with the RGB values.

12-18-2002, 03:20 PM
congrats, blasphemy! :applause:

12-18-2002, 04:31 PM

12-18-2002, 05:16 PM
This stromtrooper is better then the movies!
waiting the sand version.

12-18-2002, 07:43 PM
the Stormtrooper is excellent great attention to detail... plus i'd look to see a 'Empire Strikes Back' snow version.

12-19-2002, 01:36 AM
Visit SCIFI 3D guys. JJ has very graciously allowed us to make available this model to the public. That is our new site still under construction:

Visit to see the full site. It takes time to transfer everything over one item at a time.

There IS a snowtrooper on the site. Another great artist Steve Green made it. Check it out.

We'll work with JJ on the Sandtrooper, Vader, and Boba too.

12-19-2002, 02:41 AM
that is just too cool... people who are that generous are my heroes...seriously. I spent about 30 minutes converting the materials to vray materials for all of us vray users... If there's no objection from blasphemy_3d, it could be made available. I wont do anything until given the okay

12-19-2002, 04:42 AM
:buttrock: Now this truly kicks ass, all we need now is a scene with them doing something stupid like hitting their hed on a blast door.

12-19-2002, 08:11 AM

WELL, thanks to all sincerely.

Thanks Lildragon!!!! I really apreciate this award and Ill hang on my web of course!!!! thanks :wavey:

percydaman, you can do what you want. Use the model like you want. V-ray is a great rendering system so, make it available if you want. Remember that SciFi guys changed somethings of my original model so it is not the original from me but they have made well. Less detail in some parts, but easier to move so.

Thanks SciFi for the comments and the interest.

And thanks again to CGTALK people!!!

12-19-2002, 12:12 PM
woooo~~~~i like it! good job!
and i like this movie very much !!!! :applause:

12-19-2002, 04:51 PM
starwars sucks, but this model is absolutely phantastic. looks exactly like the real one - do you spot a contradiction? well, yes, i was forced to watch sw in a german class last year. the story is retarded and very shallow, but the vfx are pretty awesome.

b4 i get off topic completely, ill congratulate you once, more! can you post some wires? please...

12-19-2002, 10:43 PM
Congratulations really good Work, or i must to say God work? lol  :applause:

12-20-2002, 03:59 AM
Great Job, soreal and true to the true Storm troopers. Max and your talents did u Justice. good job.

12-20-2002, 08:33 AM
gratz to awesome models, just perfect. you could add a little dirt to the edges of the "suits" but otherwise just perfect. :applause:

12-20-2002, 07:48 PM
Just want to add that you have some of the finest posing of a model I have yet seen. First rate!

I would also add that the back of the knees seem to be missing, and if you want to be super-true to the orginal ep 4, the backs of the greaves need to split a little when he flexes his legs, and it should be more apparent that he is just wearing a black turtleneck under his body armor :p

Can you share any tips on your approach to getting such good strong poses?

12-21-2002, 12:28 AM
Very, very, very, very cool. I wish I could download your talent!!

One question though, it looks like he has a few dents on his helmet under his right eye. Is that supposed to look like that?

I'm an inspired newbie, thank you for inspiring me.

12-21-2002, 08:22 PM
Hi again

Oh men Im on holidays so I am not going to be able of submit more stuff till january but then Ill add more views and wire renders. Thanks!!!

12-22-2002, 03:29 AM
Awesome. You've heard this all before, but that is some of the best work I've seen. Excellent reproduction.

Your images are almost as collectable as the toyz. I want the whole set!!!

Can't wait to see more from you.

Try starting your OWN thread........OH yeah, I forgot, you wouldn't get even close to the amount of hits blasphemy3_d has gotten with his SKILL!

Amazing stuff, its work like that trooper that inspires me to get better... wow! :)

04-13-2004, 01:29 AM
It's a fabulous model, great work!

Maybe it's the camera angle, but he looks a little taller and thinner than I would have expected.

But that last pose is way off. No Stormtrooper ever uses his sights! :p

With the release of Kaydara MOTIONBUILDER and the HumanIK MAX plugin... maybe there are some people around here who would like to help us animate some shots?? We have some things with JJ's Vader, Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, Luke/Vader saber fights, etc. etc. These new programs look promising. Or using your own software like Maya, etc. maybe somebody would like to do something for fun, portfolio, etc.

Very impressive work and nice rigging of the figure. I'd love to see this animated on a bike going through the forests of Endor. :) Nice work!

09-13-2004, 08:58 PM
good work man:deal:

09-16-2004, 07:13 AM
I always love a good star wars shot.

However, the eye lenses need to be black, they are too gray. But then again that is a creator choice.

Other wise fantastic job.

silent samurai

09-16-2004, 03:10 PM
This model is available on SCIFI 3D in case anybody is interested in it.. or even better if you want to animate it and make something with it with us.

The lens color is accurate to reference. Stormtrooper and Darth Vader both had blueish lenses. Remember... they had to see out of them... that's why they're not black.

09-20-2004, 03:40 PM
hey, thats a really nice model youve got there sonny. i was just wondering if youve got any good references of the helmet, and any other parts of the armour. my email is if youd prefer to send them direct. cheers for anything you can provide

and again, good work

07-26-2005, 10:51 AM
