This is my first participation in the daily sketch thread, but I plan to keep it up 5x per week. I'm currently a first-year classical animation student at Seneca college in Toronto.
I'm really loving these threads, and I hope that they will continue for a really long time.
It took about 3 hours, which is my total commute to school each day.
(PS. for Roberto Ortiz, if there's any way to post the next topic earlier, it would be greatly appreciated, like midnight or something. It would ensure that by the time I get up, the topic is posted and I can get started right away. Thanks)
"In hindsight, sending DEER-MAN to rescue the kidnapped actress from the train was probably a bad idea."

djtrousdaleActually thats a lil spoof for all runners and intern, who normally are a bunch of kids who want to get foot in the industry. Actually that could also been titled "Film Industry of a intern's perspective" ... hope you get it now, sorry it's not so obvious, I was in kind a rush to paint it and couldn't come up with a hook that might make it clear, apply for an intership and it might be ;)
Great Sketches around here! No need to worry about the DSF, it's about quality not quantity ;)
djtrousdale, if Bobby's using photoshop you can emboss and bevel and all kinds of stuff for backgrounds like that. Check the photoshop forums here at CGTalk for tips and tricks.

Augustus: great expression,
Djtrousdale: i may be wrong, but the background on Digital Bobert's image was done with some photo/texture of paint or wall (or painted wall), ccause it looks quite familiar :)
Here's mine: (Photoshop, 1hour20min)

As I got ready to post, I saw that someone already mentioned an idea of swapping a fireman in for another profession. This idea was fire "man" instead of police "man".

Might as well add my guess...
Digital Bobberts background looks like he used one of the thick Impasto brushes in Painter, to me.
03-08-2006, 01:30 AM
Hehehe... it's great to hear all the guesses on how I made the texture. The texture was made for my digital painting class that I teach at Sheridan College so I guess only they will know for sure ;)Good guesses tho. Keep them coming
