View Full Version : depth channel for objects with alpha-channel?

I'm trying to get an object that has an alpha texture mapped to it to show up in the z-channel, but it seems the moment an object has transparency, it no longer shows up in the z-channel.
This is probably a very basic problem, but I haven't been able to dig up any help yet. Can anyone here offer assistance?

Thanks, very helpful. I guess it's not possible to do with software rendering? (My school's renderfarm is having trouble with mental ray... Shame, really.)
