Looks marvelous. Though I think I would have to comment on your wantin gto use a lens fare effect on it.
Such an effect usually happens when you use a camera to take a picture of a strong light source ilke the sun... so it looks a bit more convincing when done on photographic images.
To my part it seems as if it takes from the whole... especially if it is going to apear through the gate as seen on your earlier sketches.
Well it's a sketch as you put it any way... would like to see what you get out of it all. Watch it though. Not too much time left!

great colors in the clouds you got there, a suggestion would be to take out the lens flare though...seems a bit too photoshop ish. If you did leave it, maybe lower the opacity on it so its not as strong and distracting, but great image man :)
