03 March 2006, 04:15 AM
Excellent! --Really this image is complete as it is in a sense...very beautiful already. (Also your website is gorgeous -- worth checking out for others who may read this post and not be familiar with it.) Strange, this thread has had ~170 views while others not nearly as subtle but with clearly readable figures in thumbnails have already had 2,000.

Very much liked the "out of focus" blurred look. Love the calm, strong browns and greens shifting into warmer yellows. It would be interesting and challenging in itself to work with only the current palette -- looking forward to seeing your final image and where you go from this inspiring start. Good luck.

03 March 2006, 09:21 AM
Aye! Good luck and have tons of fun!!! :D

03 March 2006, 10:34 AM

03 March 2006, 05:28 PM
Beautiful work Benita! I love that way of doodling onto a textured coloured background :) it's much fun. That face on the left is very nice, I like the expression - any references used? Keep up the great work girl!

03 March 2006, 01:44 AM (

some of the doodles for the composition.. leaning towards the second one (storywise)
but i'll do some more sketches tomorrow..

good night everybody! *waves* :)

03 March 2006, 01:58 AM
the 4th would be my choice but with the 3rd color schemes:scream:nice going benita

03 March 2006, 02:10 AM
These are looking great, Benita!

2 and 4 are my favorite compositions. Something about having someone or something else in the scene appeals to me, there's a bit more story and purpose.

As for colors, the yellow ones feel too acrid and jangly for what si a very calm composition, so I like the cooler tones in 2 and 3. # is my favortie - 2 seems a bit too saturated to me - but somehwere in between them might be nice too.

03 March 2006, 02:14 AM
All seem to have a really nice compo. I Like the second one the presence of the second charcter, speaks to me. The color scheme is different from ur use to doing! It almost seems when I think of Benita, Green is the color that comes to mind, hehe! But let me reiterate that they all have a nice feel to them, good luck c ya!:D

03 March 2006, 03:44 AM
You call these doodles??? Have mercy when you bring out the fine brushes! Love the mysterious lighting. It's one epic journey I'm afraid to go on. Love it! Will you be submitting all four of these, or will you pick just one?

03 March 2006, 04:56 AM
Very nice start

Good luck

03 March 2006, 05:14 AM
All your sketchs looks great, maybe I prefer the number two because looks more complete (about the story) but I think the color is better in #3.
Lets see your next sketch!

03 March 2006, 07:31 AM
4th picture looks wonderful!

03 March 2006, 07:35 AM
I'd go with 4 too..
there's something about that door, very magical!

They're all lovely tho..

Don't stop now! :)

03 March 2006, 07:50 AM
got with 4! go with 4! haha all them are very well done , but yeah 4 i like the most , love your art :) keep it up

03 March 2006, 08:15 AM

03 March 2006, 08:31 AM
I Really like the colors in 1 and 3, not sure about composition though

03 March 2006, 08:51 AM
2 and 3 stand out to me!!! great stuff here! u better win sumthin!

03 March 2006, 09:29 AM
I think the 1st concept fits more to the challenge but I really lobe the little wood hut of the last one.
Good luck.

03 March 2006, 09:50 AM! Four!

03 March 2006, 10:53 AM
i like em all.. maybe 2 and 3 the most..

03 March 2006, 01:09 PM
Number 4 has the best atmosphere in my silly opinion (IMSO)! What a great update!

Viele Gre,

03 March 2006, 11:32 PM
Great concepts, I think the first one works best in terms of lightning.

03 March 2006, 08:25 AM
brilliant. love your concepts... all of em.

03 March 2006, 09:09 AM
Four reads as a jorney about to begin. Hehe but I just looked at em really quick.

03 March 2006, 01:54 AM
Hello Benita

I feel like I'm going against the grain here, but my preference is number three, given the challenge topic. Number two is an extremely interesting concept but it doesn't speak to me about "journey" so much as it does "meeting". Number two, with that muted color scheme, stirs a sense of a lonely journey about to begin - the figure is already moving away from the audience. Not all journeys are happy...

My journey:

03 March 2006, 10:49 AM
uuuuupdaaate!! :D :bounce:

03 March 2006, 12:58 PM
seems very promising.
please feed the ones that cant paint with an update.....or are you sleeping the whole day? :)

03 March 2006, 02:46 PM
Hi Benita! Great to see you participating again, here's to hoping for a completed entry! Love the faces and your quick concept sketches. I'm inclined to agree with Tastybits, that 4 certainly reads as a journey beginning, one reads as more of a 'light at the end of the tunnel', hence end of a journey, two as more of a meetng in the middle of a journey and three is nice for mood but doesn't really say much about anything. Theres a lovely sense of trepidation in the last one. And I join in the baying for an update!! :applause:

03 March 2006, 04:59 PM
Nice start  you have a great mood already here :)

I`m looking forward to see more progress :bounce:
Good luck and have fun :D

03 March 2006, 07:54 AM
