Latest Update: Final Image: fish guide
03 March 2006, 04:55 AM
My idea is this, a fish group starting a long journey, they are leading by a man of the under sea, the problem, that man is not sure to go, but he must, so, he is saying good bye to his friends, his face is not very pleasent about the situation.
I want to create the idea of movement, many fishes in a hurry, there will be more characters in this scene, for know, there is only two and some fishes.
I want to use the image at the right of the scene, I don't know why, but I feel it has to be there (Sorry about my English)

i really like the idea that you have....might be a little hard to tell the story with pictures....
im really looking forward to seeing how you try it...
keep it up!!...

It will be a hard work, but I think I can do it, thank´s for the reply, in fact, you are the first one that give me a reply in this community, I´m very happy about that.
Will you participate in the contest?, I really want to see your work over here, Your image of the panda destroying Tokio is a very good idea, I really like it and my work partner Anabel likes it too.
Dewa mata (I think it means see you later)

I create a close idea of what I want like ambient for my draw, I think this is something, but I don´t like my character´s with this atmosphera, I think I should create new ones.
Any Idea or tip is welcome

I worked a little more with the ocean and incorporated some elements, this is one of the fishes that I want to use in my image.
I change my mind about a group of fishes in a hurry, I think it could be more interesting the image of three or four fishes with a heavy objet in their stomaches, the journey will be very hard for them and their guides, and it will be slow, but that´s alright, the ocean is misterious and calm, everythink can happen there

the last sketch is very expressive, nice sketch, keep it going, good start.
the idea about the fish journeying towards something mysterious it s cool, looking forward for the updates.
Good luck

I worked with more elements, I think this is my final sketch, now, I start to work with the elements one by one, the next days I´m going to work with the image of the girl and the big fish, I have to create a good wet dress for her and good efects in the skin of the fish.

So, this is my line art, from here I´m gonna start my coloring wip, any comment or advice is welcome
03 March 2006, 11:01 PM
now, the most dificult part of the journey begins, the color, I hope manage in a good way this part od the contest.
any suggestion is welcome

very cool Idea, it's very original.
I will suggest that you move the placement of the conch shell away from the fish's nose it is very distracting and results in poor composition. just move it down a bit so they don't overlap. the only time you want to overlap things like that is if you are using heavy contrast. putting dark over light creates visual interest but in this case it's just too busy and takes away from the cool drawing of the fish. my only other comment is that you should put something waaayyyy of in the distance very hazy to add some depth. maybe a whale or a sunken city with absolutley no detail just a blue silhouette.
keep up the good work.

Thank´s, I´m totally agree with you, the placement of the conch shell is making a heavy distraction, Is a very good suggestion move it to another place, I will do it.
Thank´s a lot Nick and good Luck in the contest.

hey you man, nice concept... good luck and do the best job... pokos mexikanos, has ke se hagan notar...
03 March 2006, 01:41 AM
Cool concept man, but one thing botters me, the texture on the fish doesn't look like a fish skin. I think you could look for some macro pictures of this kind of fish to get the look.
03 March 2006, 02:50 AM
More color, unfortunatly I´m working on this a little slow because of my work,I hope do it faster the next days.
Any comment is welcome, especially about the fish skin and the light efects I want to create there, Are them correct or I need more work on this part?, what do you think about it?
03 March 2006, 08:33 PM
I change the skin of the fish, I think it is better this way, but what do you think ?, I really likes to know about your opinion´s
03 March 2006, 02:39 AM
I almost finish the first fish, I know, I´m too slow, but this is my second digital paint. I really needs some opinion with the fins of the fish, I think It could be transparent, but it looks a little strange, well I think that perhaps is only my imagination and you can tell me if it looks good.
Thanks for the replies

the fish are heading in one direction which is telling that there journey is heading that way, the girl is stealing all that magic away....
turn the girls head the same way the direction the fish are heading , it will make the picture better... just my thought...
keep the good work going
03 March 2006, 08:18 AM
its really comming along well...i like it...very original :)
i sort of agree about the girls direction but at the same time i dont...i think you could go both ways with it and it will be ok...it will just give different moods to your work...
keep at it :)

I hope to get the time and continuo my work in this draw. What you think about the bubbles around the fish.?
05 May 2006, 12:46 AM
I will be very happyto hear about your comments, I really tried to work the faster and better I can, but If there's any suggestion I will be glad to hear it in order to improve my work
05 May 2006, 01:41 PM
you painting has come along very well :) its one of the more original ideas around so well done :)
the rendering id comming along nice :)
i like how you have the background fich nice and faded...good depth there,
im feeling at the moment and area that needs work is the shells/rocks on the left hand side...
they fell a little crisp and also a little lonely...some other pebbles or shells along the bottom of the picture might help this...
youve got the feeling of the water in a very nice light...
its been great to watch the picture develope :)

The time has come, like every 10 years, the fish guide is ready for her mission, She is prepare to follow and looks for the fish migration, they are faster´s and a litle agresive, so, they have to be controle in order to finish the travel, unfortunately, this will make the voyage more hard and slow than other years. But that not mathers, it has to be complete like every year, into the deep sea.
