I know you are in the beggining of it, but I would suggest that you put his "meal" bag in the other shoulder with the other hand, because it could have more realism, and it won't be so confusing.
Overall good concept.

Thanks for your comment!
But I'm going to completely rework composition
and maybe to remove the bag at all..

Here is my new sketch.
As I said, I've changed composition because in previous sketch it was hard to show emotions of the character.

Adding some colors..

Keeps lookin better and better. The background will probably take you a while to work on, but it should be very impressive given your painting skills. This is also very unique compared to other entries, it works very well.

I'm really liking the colors you have going, they look very warm and inviting. I like how simple the idea is too, as it conveys the journey concept very well without getting overwhelmed with action. Keep it up!

You know what? I would flip it. The composition reads much better if you go from left to right (like reading I guess)...just something I tried with my pic and it worked. :D
Aside from that, I would push the values a bit- make the pic really small, bring up another layer and put darker and lighter areas on it until it just looks...good...then use that to tell yourself where to put your darks and lights.
Aside from that, it's a cute picture! :)

Nice work so far!
I agree with Theresa about flipping the image. A bit, too, about the values, but mostly in the guy, who doesn't read very strongly against the background... but i wouldn't go too far because your palette is just absolutely beautiful as it is. :)
Good luck with it!

I've changed my picture again

Slightly modified mood

I liked the idea with the big hand waving - that really let the idea of breaking up and leaving for a journey pop out. I find that it's exactly what this theme is about.
Good luck - I think you will make a nice one !

Thanks you, Photographer!
I searched for strong idea, but was afraid to overdo :)
I am glad, that you liked this picture

love the colors, gives a friendly mood... and I like how the dog looks up at his master, in a eager to begin the journey look :)

Here some new idea

With some colors.
Maybe I will extend this picture to right and bottom.

Your best idea so far - the mood and the point of view - really great. Nice compo, it reads nicely. Think of extending the canvas to the right.. you might add there a bit more space and show where's she's going. Good luck!

Extended composition. STEP 1

Lovely colors and angle, I really like them. Your best idea so far I agree :)
One thing though that to me it isn't exactly the beginning of the journey, it could also be halfway or the end. I think you should emphasize that point a bit more somehow. Put a house in the background (at the end of a path thats winding down) or something, or a gate she's walking through, I dunno.
