Ok the concept is growing. The hero at the left (not decided how he will look like, surely rabbit, roulette) have to pass many difficulties : labyrinth, storm,d ark forest and finally monster (invert with the picture) to be at a beautiful place.
The picture will looks very cartonn like the sketch, it is not a schematic view ;)

03-02-2006, 10:17 AM
i really like the concept with the giant carrot city, can give a huge scale effect withthis picture and funny too, your last one looks nice also but i`m little afraid taht the final composition will be little messy cause all the part will be important .....

03-02-2006, 10:55 AM
Hi Vincent !

Crazy Concept , I love it !! :scream:

Keep it up !

03-02-2006, 09:07 PM

Great idea :)

First test of the hero of this picture. Don't really know what to think of it. Moreover as it will be seen from behind or a little on the side.

03-06-2006, 03:16 PM
Seems interesting. Good luck with the contest

03-06-2006, 07:34 PM
This is my favorite for the "illustrated concept" - it really packs the title into a wonderful and humorous composition. Looking forward to see the details fill in!

03-06-2006, 07:39 PM
looking like it will be a real cutie this bunny  the eyes looks so promising...

03-06-2006, 07:42 PM

Thks everybody for support. Here's an update. No way to make fur because my main Pc is a little out of order (too bad), but i can continue modelisation .
As always C&c really appreciated.

03-07-2006, 12:54 AM
I'm a huge fan and cant wait to see what you do this time!

03-07-2006, 01:26 AM
Again, I can't say enough about the style. There are so many great stylistic pieces this challenge. It is almost unreal.

03-07-2006, 05:05 AM
Very cool rabbit, very nice style

Good luck

03-07-2006, 09:08 AM
Good modeling Vincent, it's on the good way, expressivity in the face is coming nicely:wip:

03-07-2006, 10:27 AM
I love your character design, I'm always amazed by the uniqueness. The only piece of C&C I would have now is wiht the ears. Dont get me wrong the massive ears are a great touch but the way they look like they are part of his forhead doesnt really apeall. Just pull those verticies in a touch so there is a fine dint between the ears and head so they look seperate - but if you are only going to see him from behind that may not matter.

Oh! and dont think I've forgotten your M&S entry, that was great.

All the best again

03-07-2006, 04:27 PM
Very clean wire!
Good Job!
Hey, run to inprove you sense of Drawn! You modelling is very good, but you concept... can be still better!

03-07-2006, 06:08 PM
Bonne chance ! Il est super ton lapin :)

03-07-2006, 06:15 PM
Nice model! Keep it up!

03-07-2006, 08:46 PM
great looking bunny character Vincent.love the face..keep em coming!

03-07-2006, 08:49 PM
love the style of this, good work i'm gonna track this one:thumbsup:

03-07-2006, 09:20 PM
wow so many replies...to reply

Very big thx to everybody.

oweron : don't stress me :scream: Not ready for the moment for colors. Growing in my mind...

dobermunk : hope I will stay your favorite for a long time but maybe is it already too late. Thx for compliment:thumbsup:

tilitle : nice to see you here. Well for the ears attached to the head. I have hesitate when I made it but for a question of design I had make it like that (better curve/silhouette I hope) but I don't know if it is the good choice. Thanks for intersting comment.
I'm happy you don't forget my Ms entry. The most important is that you forgot the spectacular one :scream:(find it too bad)

Raul : If you have seen my drawings one year ago you will not be so severe :scream: Seriously I work on it, but I'm not sure I'll make a good sketch in the future (even nothing could make me more happy).

Your support makes me very enthousiastic about this challenge. I think I'll post a new update very soon (1 or 2 hours).

03-07-2006, 10:59 PM

Some updates. I have made the whole body. Just stay some details to do (like foot, or navel...). Then I'll have the bag and the tongues for accessories.
Waiting for advices.

03-07-2006, 11:03 PM
what a sweet look he got with that fur :)

03-08-2006, 03:00 AM
arggg. nice progress ! i alway like your style from ms challenge, it seem you go for more 3d look this time , don't you? but it alway cool! fur look very nice , if you change shade area into deep blue, violet like your shade model ,it will be perfect!:wip:

03-08-2006, 05:00 AM
The most important is that you forgot the spectacular one :scream:(find it too bad)

Don't worry I didn't follow any entries for spectacular. But I'll have to make it up in this challenge. Get ready to put up with too much of my opinion :S :)

03-08-2006, 05:06 AM
hey man , really nice sketch and style , wait for your next update , keep the characteristic on your background , i will be watching you:thumbsup:

03-08-2006, 05:16 AM
I like the character concept... pretty funny... and the giant carrots city too!

About the modeling... there´s something that bother me... where are his legs?

03-08-2006, 07:23 AM
Hey Vincent!

love the bunny! Good modeling.. I know your going with a stylized look, but maybe ad the inner ear part, the pink stuff, you know... :D

Looking good so far! ;)

03-08-2006, 07:57 AM
he looks great with fur..nice update! the body looks great and in good proportionto the head.

03-08-2006, 08:04 AM
Hey Vincent!

love the bunny! Good modeling.. I know your going with a stylized look, but maybe ad the inner ear part, the pink stuff, you know... :D

Looking good so far! ;)

Yeh, but do it like they do in cartoons, make it white!

03-08-2006, 10:13 AM
really like the fur version :) !! very good proportions for the body, it's going to be a very good journey

03-08-2006, 10:45 AM
very cute.. like a living breathing stuffed animal ;p I like.. keep going.. hope to see the full body shot soon

what are u using for the fur?

03-08-2006, 11:11 AM
cool rabbit

03-08-2006, 11:26 AM
Many replies...Thks to all.

monsitj : I don't have chosen yet on rendering style. I would be happy to have realism shader with designed shapes. But if it works on the rabbit I have to keep that in style for the environnement. I can also go in a completely other way with toon shading. For the moment I play with the rabbit and I'll see. Oh and I agree with you I have to jeep this violet shw on the rabbit.

nelson : his legs... Oh it's a sad story you know. They have been cut by his mother to keep him near her. A doctor lean him but forgot the legs and just put his foot on his body. Sad story... Or it's just a question of design. I don't rememember.:scream:

Michael : the ears are well... I'm going to make another version of the ear. I want to keep the fact they come from the whole head but I want them more designed and with less weight. MAybe also more tapered. I think there will the inner part. Thx for comment.

tilitle : I try it white but it's not my choice for the moment. But It can change.? It will depend on the final picture colors.

Martin : For the fur, even if I don't know if I'll keep it, I use the basic hair of XSI. It was one of my objective with this challenge, make fur. It's the first time I made some. If I don't keep it for the rabbit, I think I'll put some on the monster.

03-08-2006, 11:39 AM
Hahahahahahahahahaha.. great character! You concept is very funny too. good luck!

I love the model

03-08-2006, 12:53 PM
Yeah! Nice progress! Cute little bunny!
Like your fur...looks like a real teddybear fur :)

03-08-2006, 12:59 PM
I think this is looking very good, it's going to be a funny image...
I don't know if rabbits are so furry, but I like your character

03-08-2006, 01:57 PM
just :love:your style

OK. The 1st ears were funny but well, not what I was looking for. SO here are new ones.

03-08-2006, 04:52 PM
Lovely bunny - absolutely adorable - and the fur is spot on, love your work!

03-08-2006, 04:59 PM
Ooooh i am in love with your bunny!! Great attitude and expressive face! Great work!
I have not really a preference between fur or not... But your fur effect rocks!!
Go ahead , another wip soon:)

03-08-2006, 07:27 PM
love the character..what great poses!!

03-08-2006, 09:05 PM
hmmm his hands aren`t good they needs to be sharber at the joints

03-08-2006, 11:36 PM
Good improvement on the ears

03-09-2006, 06:19 AM
Very cool rabbit. I can't wait to see where this is going.

03-09-2006, 10:38 AM

03-09-2006, 11:59 AM
Hey Vincent !
Haven't been here for while and I missed the born of this great character !
Totally adorable and and always in your style which I love !

cheers ,

03-09-2006, 03:36 PM
Hello. Happy with new ears, if you got some advice on other part, don't be shy. I hAve some jobs to do in modelisation again. Better foot, the part behind the eye, the hands (like real one or not ??)... and then a few accesories.
I have also made some fur test that I'll post but I'm not sure I'll keep in final.

elmasfeo : I see what you mean. The fur as it is like this is more for a toy. Anyway it was just a test and if I like the character like this I'm not sure I'll keep it in final.

the best : thx for advice but I don't success to translate the term sharber:sad:. I would say bigger but I'm not sure... If you got another term to explain me, I'm here; Anyway the hand have don't really be work for the moment. I don't know if I make just little things like he has for now (with a little refinement of course) or if I made real hands for possibilites of action (in a rabbit way of course :D).

03-09-2006, 05:06 PM
Cool looking bunny! I think you should add more detail to the hands, although not completely real. Cant way to see the background elements. Grat concept!!

03-10-2006, 07:28 AM
Hi Vincent,

Excellent rabbit, new ears are better.
This is very good and funny with fur!
Good Luck

03-10-2006, 09:13 AM
your rabbit is excellent ! i'm more near the cartoon style than realism, so i appreciate this one !
Maybe the fur made a few "cuddly toy" (yeappi i'm not sure of the "voila"'s translation :scream: :) but, I haven't read alla the thread, i confess it...shame on me...;)

03-10-2006, 01:57 PM
I like the bunny! Reminds me of Don Hertzfield cartoons. However, I do not like the fur, doesn't mesh well with the character. I would think he would have either really fluffy hair or very tiny hairs.

03-10-2006, 04:44 PM
Glad to see you here , love your stuff man !

03-11-2006, 02:28 PM

Ok here's a little updates with hands and foot. Note sure about it so if you got some modifications or advice, tell me.
For the foot he will have some shoes (tongues) so it can change a little the impression.

03-11-2006, 02:43 PM
The bunny has some serious character.

I dig it. Keep it commin!

03-11-2006, 04:59 PM

sorry for that I wrote it wrong I meant sharper

and very cool updates

03-11-2006, 05:03 PM
i like the overall idea o this. i think the bunny design is pretty strong. since the feet will have shoes i won't critique that at the moment. other than that i think the arm and hand doesn't have too much contrast. maybe if the palm were a little bit bigger to make that distcintion it help the overall design. other than that, its lookin good authentic! hope to see more updates soon!

03-11-2006, 06:10 PM

Like this bunny, very good modeling and style, and the concept can be really funny!
Good luck and have fun!

Nothing extraordianry. Just some little shoes for our hero to protect his enormous feet

03-12-2006, 01:26 PM
heheh ! very cute! I love it !

03-12-2006, 09:14 PM
very cool shoes :bounce: lol

03-13-2006, 02:26 PM
Nice shoes!!
what about a "japanese's style" tong?? See what I mean?
Otherwise, this lil'rabbit is ever cute:)

03-13-2006, 07:14 PM
cuute thongs..we love thongs in australia-and hunting rabbits! heh. looks great vincent!

Ok here are some props in work. The shoes more asiatic (thx funkyboss for the idea). And the bag currently in work. Will add a carrot from the pocket I think. If you got some idea on it...

03-13-2006, 11:12 PM
Cute stuff man, i like how elements are coming...

Why not adding a map in the bag...you know how are rabbits, a bit stupid sometimes...i'm sure he can lost himself even if he has the way in front of him :)

Cool work, continue

03-14-2006, 07:29 AM
keep going

03-14-2006, 08:43 AM
thanks all.

Yes cipher rabbit can be stupid, and this one is particulary stupid, so the map was something in my mind. MAybe in the bag, maybe in his hand, looking at it. Moreover there surely would be a carrot on the pocket as I already said.

03-14-2006, 06:32 PM
That rabbit is a hoot. Very funny.

03-14-2006, 10:39 PM

Ok here's an update on the bag. No tecture for the moment just colors. Don't really know about textures and also maybe add some details in zbrush. I will see.

03-15-2006, 03:42 AM
It may just be the perspective but it looks like he's leaning back. I know it is early in the WIP and you haven't started to pose him but I just thought I would throw that out there. I'm loving your modeling! Keep it up! :)

03-15-2006, 08:27 AM
Hi andrew. I think it's just the perspective. Haven't seen this problem in right view. I will verify. Thanks for support.

03-15-2006, 01:07 PM
gets better and better.
goude leuke

03-15-2006, 01:33 PM
Ha, nice idea, and a cool hero! Should be lots of fun, keep it up :applause:

03-15-2006, 01:43 PM
Funny pose! Ready to ride or dancing the didier's dance.:)
Good props, it is a clean work
Keep the good work Vincent!

03-15-2006, 02:00 PM
really like your rabbit, he look so "happy with life" :) and never leave home without a carrot... :p

you doing great Vincent

03-15-2006, 03:59 PM
thx everybody.
Bernard, glad to see you on this thread.

I don't know what the whole picture will look like at final but I have a lot of fun doing this character.

03-15-2006, 05:29 PM
Keep those updates coming!

Love the style your working in.. ;)

03-15-2006, 09:05 PM
http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1142456749_medium.jpg (http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1142456749_large.jpg)

Here's the first part of layout possibilities. The picture is composed with the bunny, many dangers and his objective.
I post some new just now after.

03-15-2006, 09:08 PM
http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1142456911_medium.jpg (http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1142456911_large.jpg)

The next layouts. Just to explain the layout E and F are like video games layout. In layout F there is a carrot teletransportor to go to the up place where is the other teletransportor.

03-15-2006, 09:10 PM
cool updates

03-17-2006, 04:53 PM
Hey Vincent, how are you friend? Very glad to see you here again, wow very interesting concept, i hope to see more, but i know this will another superpiece

03-17-2006, 05:02 PM
I like the "A" and "C" composition... hard decision.

03-17-2006, 07:04 PM
A and B make the final destination to me, some of the late additions feel like a side scroller ;). Personally I'd give the nod to B, as the camera feels on a scale with the character, while A is a bit of a crane shot for me.

The rabbit is great, very expressive and slightly off the beaten (Bugsish) rabbit path :).

03-17-2006, 07:43 PM
thanks for showing the layouts- A and B are my favourites- nice balance of main character and destination.

03-17-2006, 07:49 PM
my vote is A... :)

03-17-2006, 08:29 PM
cool updates I give my vote to B

03-17-2006, 08:55 PM
Cool way to layout a picture. I vote for D. It has more drama, and it shows how epic the journey its going to be, because the character is smaller. The outline of the character is very recognizable. We don't need to see him closer. The journey part seems to me more importand in this case.

03-17-2006, 09:17 PM
i don't know man...i vote for B or D,,, i think that tey look better the perpective....i hope to win about the composition:scream:

a little picture to try add some details with zbrush for the 1st time. The result is good but I have to remade it becaue I lost the projections...

03-18-2006, 12:24 PM
Nice compositions test, i personally prefer the B and D...but D looks better for character scale in the environnement, he's really submerged in it... The F is really funny but could make the image too flat in my opinion...but nice tests

More and more interesting, can't wait to see more modeling ;)

03-18-2006, 09:24 PM
keep going :applause:

03-18-2006, 09:32 PM
Man, from thumbnail, I thought this is cut finger :banghead: CARROT!!!

B - because of nice bunny view.
D - because of dramatic view.

03-19-2006, 06:44 PM
thx everybody for replies. Well, I will take the decision about composition later but I think B and D are the favorites.
I'll try to post a more interesting updates soon.

03-20-2006, 04:30 PM
Hummmm, delicious carrot, mate. Great concept (i need to say you again) but overall impressive rabbit (love it face).

More updates pleeeeease.

PS: Thanks a lot for your suggestions, sincerely.

I promice a real update for tomorrow. To wait and to make the thread alive, here is a little wireframe of the bunny and I need you to find a name for this character. So all the propositions are welcome.

03-20-2006, 10:48 PM
Wabbit Longear... or Nutty Bigfoot... hmmm... Carrot Tooth... this was hard... how about Kanin, it´s rabbit in swedish... or, maybe Makaron :D .. naaa, better leave this to people with better imagination then me... haha... It takes me weeks to name my own pets... I can sit here for weeks and pour out names... haha
maybe mr C. Arrot... or mr R. abbit... better go now... ;)
but he is a cutie... :p ahhh.. mr Carrot Cutie... C. Utie... ops... Wabbit von Rabbit

03-21-2006, 08:43 AM
what do u think of calling him Bonny

03-21-2006, 09:40 AM
For a so cute rabbit, I'll call him Fonzy if he is a male, or Shirley for a female;)
Hem... sorry:scream:

03-21-2006, 09:51 AM
How about Peter?

Lovely work since I last stopped in! Keep it up!

03-21-2006, 10:44 AM
Hmmmmm, name the rabbit...

Okay.. :D

Rabbit Stu?
Journey Biggins??
Chit Chat Rabbit Rabbit???
Cacey Roll????
Hare Von Dutch????? - enough already! :banghead: harder than you'd think!

...that is not the question for the moment. I will see later with the whole picture. But I share it with you anyway ;)

03-21-2006, 09:10 PM
cool fur keep furing lol

03-21-2006, 09:36 PM
Awefunny, looks like the rabbit plush i had when i was young. Now he have one eye left, and a broken leg in three parts. Bad luck!

Yours is really nice, is it a japan rabbit? :)

03-22-2006, 01:31 AM
argh! nice fur , I like it and charactor is very cute too!

03-22-2006, 01:41 AM
nice fur Vincent- looks great!!

03-22-2006, 01:57 AM
Your'e right...that will depend of the final idea or image. If you want a image more cartoon, it will be without fur, but if want a image more natural and real, certainly fur. anyway the rabbit looks great!

03-22-2006, 04:32 AM
I like both versions but I think I like the version without fur more.

03-22-2006, 04:48 AM
The fur is great, just you need to vary the lengths fo hair. e.g the arms should have shorter hair than the torso. If you do that he wont look like a teddy bear but more of a non static character in a story.

Good developments though

03-22-2006, 07:32 AM
Hey Vincent !!

Rockin' progress here , lovely fellow , I would go for the fur ...
Can't wait for more !

cheers ,

03-22-2006, 07:37 AM
very very cool, you're so far ahead, making me feel guilty ;(

keep up the good work, nice progress!

03-22-2006, 09:14 AM
hey Vincent !

both are greats, but i prefer the left one...the fur is cool, but the cartoon spirit is better on the other one...i find more dynamic without fur...but it's just my opinion. I'm sure you'll make the good choice !

03-22-2006, 09:47 AM
Cool fur, although he does look a bit tubby now...

Perhaps if you make the base model skinny you'll be able to add fur and then he'll look more like your concept work?

Just a thought, keep up the good work! :bounce:

03-22-2006, 09:54 AM
Very beautiful fur shader Vincent!!
I can't choose between them.
I have a little preference for the fur version but he is less expressive around his face.
Fur is hiding some details.
If you can make a fur with some more detailled zone, it could be a very good compromise.
But it is a excellent job here!!
I love it!!!

03-22-2006, 03:57 PM
awesome character Vincent and the fur is nice . i think should go with the fur but shorter and not to wrincly. more smooth

03-22-2006, 04:12 PM
Time for me to reply to everybody.

Rabbit name : don't know yet again so you can continue to talk about that. Makaron, the best, carl, crin, M477 thanks for seroius and funny proposition. Oh it's a boy, I forgot to say.

on update and all the rest (let's talk seriuosly, we're not here for pleasure:scream:):

the best, carl : thx for your regular support. really appreciated.

Davee : sorry for your child bunny:cry:. Japanese one this one ? I don't know, I would say international one with japan tong.

monsijt : always a honnor to have a message from you. Thanks for comments.

shakes, zapan, monks : thank you

melkao : yes, the whole picture style will resolve the question

andrew : I use your surname because your nickname is too complicated to copy:D. I agree with you for the moment, I prefer without fur.

tilitle, agamemnwn : INdeed there is more work to do on fur. Don't have play yet with size and color enough

martin : you know I'm not so far. Your reflexion makes me think of time and I'm late.

m477 : totally agree with you. thks for comment.

Here's a very fast version of the first danger to pass for our hero. It's called "hit the rabbit"

03-23-2006, 04:48 AM
oh  boor "nobby" they are all on him
what do u think of this name "nobby"?

03-23-2006, 03:44 PM
Heheeh..i like his fur veeery much..about compositions tests..i like D ...it it helps at all...but knowing your work u won't have any problem figuring out which is the best...

So fun thread..how did i miss this?

03-23-2006, 04:05 PM
Excellent work, the rabbit looks really funny and the fur looks awesome!
Keep it up ;)

03-23-2006, 05:45 PM
Aahahaha , awesome idea "hit the rabbit" :scream:

Can't wait for the next one ! Oh and I will go for the comp D too ....

cheers ,

03-23-2006, 05:50 PM
the character is appealing but if you show the back nobody will see this character!

good luck

03-24-2006, 11:01 AM
Ton travail est très inspirant. J'aime la manière avec laquelle tu fais évoluer ton projet. Le lapin est très reussi. Je suis ton topic de près !

( sorry for not translate in english for readers, but french is still more easy for me :) )

03-24-2006, 11:40 AM
i like the habbit, good model dude!

03-24-2006, 03:01 PM
houps, missed your thread until now ! haha I love your concept and everything looks fantastic ! Good luck, I will follow your steps !

03-24-2006, 08:19 PM
great concept, vincent!!! i really love your rabbit, wonderful:thumbsup:
lookin' forward for your further dangers, hehe...

good luck, mate!!!

best wishes

03-25-2006, 11:38 AM
thanks everybody for support. Long time I have not put a great update... Actually I'm thinking of the different dangers on each sphere of the environment. In my mind there are 4 for the moment, one with monster, one with secret doors, one with the hammers (but don't sure again), and one with some jumps to do up on big wood. Any idea is welcome.

time for reply :

the best : Nooby...why not ?

Dimitri : thanks for compliment. Work on composition will be hard but...it's a challenge, isn't it ?

colings, stephane, david, vader, Salamander : thanks for support and comments.

shahabp : the pose of the character is not completely defined. Even if he's seen fromback, he has a good silhouette and I could use it for other purpose after.

julien : glad to see you on this thread. No way to see yours ? No time to make the challenge this time ?

03-25-2006, 01:29 PM
Great concept, room for loads of humour, the rabbit has bags of character, one of my favorite entries to date:bounce:

03-26-2006, 02:02 AM
i like the concept man. keep up:)

03-26-2006, 06:50 AM
Do you know that once i dreamed such a concept but i was not sure about how to deploy the composition.

Yours is good pal, i am subscribed to this thread.

03-26-2006, 05:48 PM
http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1143395280_medium.jpg (http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1143395280_large.jpg)

A new danger for our rabbit. Only one door is not trapped but which one ?
So it's the start of this new part of the picture. I had some interogations ? Must I have a panel writing the name of the trap. Must I put something at the top of the 3 bad door ??
The only things I 'mquite sure I'll do is that there will be "interogation point" on it.

03-26-2006, 06:58 PM
Hahahahaha! I love it! What the brown thing on the red door?

03-26-2006, 07:06 PM
nice mystery doors they look very funny keep going :bounce:

A quick update of the door of mystery, with integrate title, update path and some texture. Waiting for comments and ideas.

03-26-2006, 10:10 PM
Your style is really great.
The composition is a little too hard for me to get my head around but the big gold trophy under your name tells me it will work out well in the end.
Braver than I though, I struggle with the simplist of compositions :)

03-26-2006, 10:10 PM
I don't quite like the words and the exclamation marks. I think they are more mysterious without them. With the words, its like "oh their doors of mystery, blah" Without them I think the viewer asks "I wonder what's behind these crazy doors." Also you say there are traps behind them, are you going to show them? And crazy door nobs would be nice to match the door style.

03-27-2006, 06:47 AM
maybe u can make the bagkground environment as a big "?"

03-27-2006, 10:26 AM
julien : glad to see you on this thread. No way to see yours ? No time to make the challenge this time ?
This time I decided to don't do the challenge, not enough time :(, and I was quiet sure to don't be able to finish it, so I'm out of run...

But I will follow what you are doing !

03-27-2006, 02:07 PM
Hello. Some replies.

handlebar, uwil, the best : thanks for comments

Le-go, Womgoose : yes composition... Well it's the big question? Will it works and be comprehensible ? I have now a new problem, I really like these simple layout with doors and well I thought it could be the whole environnement... Or just big doors with trap behind...Aaargh don't know...

Womball : the brown things were some door mat but I delete them. About the exclamation marks and title, I see what you mean. In a way it depend of what I'll do. If I keep the initial idea with different dangers, I will keep it like that to be comprehensible. If the doors are the main part of the picture, I could remove the title. For the exclamation point, it depends even I'll erase the grass one.

03-27-2006, 02:10 PM
I say just go with it m8. I'm sure you will work some magic and it will be amazing in the end :)

You can do it! :D

03-27-2006, 02:38 PM
love your updates man, nothing to crit. your style is very distint.

03-27-2006, 03:11 PM
I really like the style that you're going for.

Let's see some more! :)

03-27-2006, 03:39 PM
Cool style man! is very funny...good job with that!

A quick update of the door of mystery, with integrate title, update path and some texture. Waiting for comments and ideas.

(monsters inc..)

03-28-2006, 07:55 AM
sergiokomic : Well it wasn't the idea at first but when I saw my picture I also think of monsters (which isone of my favorite film) but the idea is not the same for me. Just mysterious doors.

03-28-2006, 08:06 AM
Nice. I like the crookedness of it all. beautiful :)

03-28-2006, 07:07 PM
man i really like your stuff, great style! good luck 2 u

Here's a new version of hit the rabbit. there will be imact on ground like in the 1st time I put it.

03-28-2006, 10:23 PM
Nice variation between the hammers.
A lazy guy (Like me) would have just used the same one :)

03-29-2006, 06:30 AM
poor nooby hahahah lol what did u name him ?
cool keep going

03-29-2006, 07:22 AM
Hi Vincent, looks like progressing very well. I am not sure if I fancy those new hammers. Might change their size more differently... You know, to give them life. Or make them same type, to emphasize drama. Just messing aroun your thread, ha ha :D Keep it up

03-29-2006, 01:33 PM
Woomgoose, oweron : Yes make 3 hammer was more job but as said oweron, I'm not sure it make a better picture. They are not enough designed for me. If I'll keep only one shape, I think it will be the square one. More deformation could be cool but no real idea. But I got another idea which is to make some face in mapping and maybe (like suggest me a friend) somehting like, you know, smile with tooth like on a japan plane.

The best : no not decide yet. nooby could be the one but I will see if he needs a name in the title of the picture or if it will be unofficial.

03-30-2006, 08:17 AM
I like your style.
looking forward... .. .
good luck.

An update on the first obstacle for the rabbit. Some textures on hammers and a try (but wll redo it) to make some impact on grounds.

03-31-2006, 08:37 AM
hi vincent, you got a nice story and style here, it's quite funny :) ...the rabbit looks good with that naive but kind of trustful expresion on his face
I like more unfur version, it's more adequate with oveall style... but, you know better what to choose, I'm sure
keep up the good work ;)

03-31-2006, 12:06 PM
u know they look very funny so u can leave them as they are now

03-31-2006, 03:13 PM
jajajajaj very cool...poor rabit!:applause:

03-31-2006, 05:38 PM
Reminds me a little bit of Mario Brothers ;)

03-31-2006, 07:50 PM
hey, nice news going on ! really like the hammers right now, love the graphical style you're going with, keep it up !

03-31-2006, 07:56 PM
Haha exellent hilarous idea :applause:

I`m looking forward for more cool objects

Good luck and have alot of fuuuuuuuuun:bounce:

I have put (very quickly) the element I have already done to have a first impression and to see if I'm not going in a wrong way.

04-01-2006, 07:27 PM
Hi Vince, I drop in every once in a while here and Love the simplicity (again) and stylin that you've got going here... I think the composition needs much work and may benefit from a more exaggerated sense of perspective/ proportion... As well, I hope we'll see many more challenges for our friend to endure;) Good luck mate

04-01-2006, 08:36 PM
Nice composition of the escene!

04-03-2006, 08:05 AM
coochaki, melkao, nomad : thx

-bam- : the unfur version is my favorite for the moment. I will test the 2 when I will have make all the elements.

the best, cipher : I stop work on the hammers for now. I have many details on rabbit, hammers, doors to do but I still have so many work thta I prefer continue to other elements for the moment.

se7enthcin : yes mario bros could be consider as something near, a great reference.

daddymack : composition you see is just a quick test. Not final at all. I just nedded to be sure this element could melt together. And I have so many things to put in this picture, that I'm a bit worry about final.

ANd now the bad rabbit, big boss monster.

04-03-2006, 01:41 PM

Here's the ennemy of our hero. it's a bad rabbit who will have 4 arms or 4 ears, carott gun or saber, triangle teeth and maybe long black hair.

04-05-2006, 08:41 AM
:scream: :scream: :scream: ... briliant stuff Vincent !!
Your imagination has no limits !!

cheers ,

Well, for this one I'm pretty happy of the different ideas but I'm a little worry about melting them...MAybe the final picture would be very simplify.

04-05-2006, 09:42 AM
hehehe, the start of that bad rabbit looks very promising, I'm waiting to see it completed.... I love the style you're using, Vincent!

04-05-2006, 02:52 PM

This evil rabbit looks evil...it really works man, this is great cartoon work ! :bounce:

04-07-2006, 05:01 PM
excellent le pti dernier :scream:
les piercing par contre je trouve ca tres cliché, bof bof pour moi. enfin c'est pas moi qui décide :)

04-07-2006, 06:57 PM
Thats a really cool character...i just loveit....but the final texture will be black?:deal:

04-07-2006, 09:08 PM
I think he is kind of cute this "bad boy" .... :) and evil at the same time... well done

This mad rabbit was just, well I hate it. No originality, just for me a way to a very spped character and, as usual, it doesn't works. So I have to do a complete one and it will be crocodile. here's the sketch.

04-08-2006, 06:40 PM
http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1144521626_medium.jpg (http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/13/9775/9775_1144521626_large.jpg)

It's been a while I hadn't post something I was a ltille happy with. So here 's the head of the new big boss ennemy of our rabbit. It's a wip, I will change and refine some details (like put some place for the teeth..)There is also the start of the body.
Waiting for your comments;

04-08-2006, 06:52 PM
Well, the evil rabbit could have worked for me...but it's up to you ! The crocodile is indeed more original in the design and will add a something in the diversity of your image, keep it up the nice work :)

04-08-2006, 09:01 PM
very funny hahahah cool character keep going

04-08-2006, 10:08 PM
he looks great- I really like the crooked mouth. look forward to more!

04-10-2006, 01:45 AM
GREAT! but i think if you would put the rabbit in some leather strappings and some "i love you gina" tatoos it'll make him a splash angrier :) or the croc from "amazon jail house" and a code number on his neck or sumthin.. great work , absolutely great , cant wait to see it finished.

dunno how you'll show all of this great stuff and the bunny hiter and all the obstacles he's supposed to pass in only one image and also sho the rabbit. it's like sadistic/veryFunny .. it has a little of happy tree friends in it ?

04-10-2006, 03:12 AM
wow! really love your portfolio...very inspiring, bold, creative themes -- really off beat without being annoying or patronizing, very real creative thought can't wait to see where you are going with this one...my only suggestion is, these types of challenges seem to reward snapshots of highly detailed scenes with many characters, a lot of action, etc., which is rare in even first-rate professional films (such as those by Disney and Pixar) or illustration work (which your portfolio seems to favor) -- so, I'm not sure your truly brilliant creativity will be fully rewarded, since it seems expressed in comparatively more stark, refined, and monotone scenes?? Not a backhanded compliment...I guess that isn't much of a helpful postive suggestion either though...maybe a judge will recognize the value and skills required in your particular -- very engaging -- style? excellent work!

04-10-2006, 09:06 AM
I had no time for reply since a long time. Sorry guys.

To talk about changement of the vialain of the picture. Some of you like the bad rabbit, but it wasn't really what I was looking for. I liked legs and whole body but the head was too bad. And as dezz said about piercing (and I think everything) it was too like a cliche, too classic.
So time for croco.

thedirtypaw : He will have some accesories I think : towel, knife and a fork I think. And put everything in a readable picture is the very big difficulty. Gonna work on it very soon.

oceanbluesky : thanks for sweet words. I know my style is not the most rewarded one. Well never mind. I have much respect for the one who makes very complicated picture. The aim of this challenge for me is just exchange, support and progress. At every challenge I try knew things (artistically or technically). I had an honorable mention for master and servant, so I'm already happy with :D. Even I would like some more cartonny work could go to better place (not especially mine) but some huge work are made from "realistic" guys. For this picture I tried to have more many things in it, more background but now I'm embarassed to do my layout/composition :argh:. Thks for support.

Pure genius.

Love the croc, he is perfect :)

Hi authentic, I'm getting some Psychonauts vibe from this concept. I LOVE Psychonauts. Your characters look absolutely wacky, literally! I'm curious to see how it turns out, so I'll keep tab on your thread!

Ok here is the problems. I want the path to be very understandable. But it 's better when the 2 characters are at 2 part of the picture not side by side.
To have a better depth I must put the crocodile very small. Here are all the problems I have.
The rabbit would be a little more on the right not to cut the ears.

So tell me what you think of it.

There will maybe be a smoke from the mushroom to show the way to the doors. There will also be keys at each step that will be needed to open the doors.

04-12-2006, 07:27 AM
the problem is also to have the rabbit in a good silhouette, not to from back view.

Womgoose and jeromoo : thx for so big compliments.

04-12-2006, 07:49 AM
I would like to see the rabbit more close-up... like I as a viewer almost sit next to the rabbit... and see the landscape like he does... :)

i'm agree....a littel more work with the perspective!...but the general composition is very cool:thumbsup:

Following my idea. With some 2d to explain more about amience. I'm gonna try another thing, very diiferent, very much "crazy" to try and then I will decide

04-12-2006, 11:34 PM
The whole concept would probably also make a really cool game.
I want to control the Rabbit on his dangerous journey :)
I thought the composition of this concept would be very hard but it looks like you are very close to getting it perfect.

04-13-2006, 07:43 AM
makaron, melkao : do you think it's better ?

womgoose : perfect I'm not sure but already understandable which was a challenge I think.

04-16-2006, 08:56 PM
hey, it's all coming together! love the start on the scene, and what's ahead of him..great!

04-17-2006, 03:31 PM
OOOHHHH yeah is much better!...the clouds really adds a cool detail to the image!

04-19-2006, 09:33 AM

04-19-2006, 09:49 PM
What a cool aligator! Is he smaller than the rabbit?

04-19-2006, 11:55 PM
LOL nice additions with the knife, fork and napkin :)
Run rabbit run! :bounce:

04-20-2006, 05:18 AM
I´m a bit late, again... hehe...

but just have to say, the last view works very well... and the cutlery is a pefect addition to the croc... :arteest:

04-20-2006, 06:59 AM
looknig good

some crits, I think the torso area could use more curves, looks very straight from the shoulders down to the belly.

04-20-2006, 02:35 PM
hello everybody.

omer-n : well not sure I have such imagination. it depends on time. Always try to be original but it's difficult. Thx for compliment.

womball : well not smaller normally but I understand the question, regarding to proportions.

martin : you'rre completely right, I will change it quicly. I had many difficuties with the body. And you, what happened ?? No update since a long time.

great work man! nice and a lot of progress here! I really like your style and the latest red croco is nice too! a bit of shader work will improve the model !

04-20-2006, 07:15 PM
Haha, another wonderful character - that croco is really nice, I like the absent stare in his eyes. Great style!

04-20-2006, 08:23 PM
nice character...is very funny!

04-20-2006, 09:54 PM
Small update!? He looks like he spent too long on the beach :D Nice new colour I like it. He's a really great character, simple and effective, you could imagine his personality. :applause:

I would say he needs a thumb to hold the knife and fork etc.. but hey, that's the only nit I could pick

04-21-2006, 06:42 AM

Really nice Vincent, glad to see your progression, the composition is excellent, nothing to say, about the croco i love it also of course, just one crit, i have to agree with M477,i would make thumbs on his hands because the utensil looks floating a bit...

Keep it up the great work !

04-21-2006, 12:45 PM
monsijt : yes. I'm a bit worry abpout shader. Specular or not, details or not ?But for now he looks to much like a toy in term of modelisation. On another hand, he will be seen very far. But I waant to make it good anyway.

m477 and cipher : yes thunms. Why not ? I will test it ;)

LAst modeling update. if I got time I will make more teture and displacement maybe in zbrush. for the moment I have to progres on the whole picture.

Some test on possibles clouds for the picture. TEll me which you prefer ;)

04-23-2006, 03:40 PM
Really cool clouds! The top left one is my favorite. Although you may want to consider using all of them. The darker lighting looks better too. The bottom ones details seem to get obscurred by the lighting.

04-23-2006, 04:46 PM
Well top left one, with those 2 extra squares in the center that the top right one has. Gah sorry about that. You combine those two and I think you have your cloud!

new composition agian and again. trying to do my best but it's difficult...
